Lol this comments section is why i left Japanese Jujutsu and split into Judo & Muay Thai. So many people in an art I so cherished that are the martial arts world equivalent of "if I'm on the STREET I'm killing people! I see red! Bodies just drop! Thats why I dont spar or compete, what I do is TOO DANGEROUS!" Not all martial arts are sport yes, but not all martial arts are "secret qi power if you do this then I'd just do this" nonsense. This video does a good job demonstrating what can be used in various positions. Keep working guys, we're all just trying to improve ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually - although many in traditional martial arts world will find a way to try and talk sh*t about even that.

I’m starting to learn Japanese ju-jitsu but I plan on intergrating other martial arts disciplines so I have many ways to block, strike, punch, kick, trapping, locks, holds, evading strikes, takedown, throw, head but, knee strike, clinch, sweep, attack and defend

If it's like the sport JuJitsu like the one we do or a full on old school traditional one, it's always good to do some boxing/kicboxing training with it

Looks like MMA not Japanese Jujutsu. The type of striking witnessed here doesn't follow principal of Ju

This was just friendly sparring session with the safest techniques used, ps. big gloves so no wristlocks and limited grappling, anything will look like mma when put in a similar sport enviroment

What is it then? Can an mma fighter spar under boxing rules and call it boxing sparring?

@@MiddleEast-4Ever ofcourse, but I asked you something, can an MMA practitioner do some sparring under boxing rules Or a Judoka film a grappling session under wrestling rules...or maybe a ju jitsu practitioner do some full contact sparring and just call it what it is; ju jitsu sparring
@rtp4919 Жыл бұрын
I agree this is not Jujutsu. There is too much emphasis on kicks (especially high kicks) rather than on throws, wrist (kotogoesh) bone locks (kanzensuasa). This is merely an MMA skirmish with very poor grappling. At the age of 73, ranked in Judo and Jujutsu (Mi Yama Ryu) I was intrigued by the title of video but very quickly let down by the content. Which is why there has never been any full contact jujutsu, that's why judo evolved. Jujutsu was never intended to be a sport.

The punches seem slow, like you're not really doing full contact. You sure it was sparring?
@martialgeeks4 ай бұрын
It's NOT hard sparring, "full contact" is only in terms of rules, check out full contact ju jitsu competitions on youtube to see what I mean
@jedijudoka9 күн бұрын
Hard sparring all the time is a good way to accumulate unnecessary brain damage. It’s best to spare lightly and technically most of the time and save the hard sparring for here and there.
