Was a great issue, Soundwave as the Decepticon Leader is awesome to see and I like how he seems to be a more complex character than he typically is.

I think this is my favorite issue so far. It has everything I like about transformers. The decepticons doing cool things that the autobots aren't involved in yet. And the emotion! I love Jetfire's line "I can't see the stars." I haven't cried yet but I am edging and edging closer to crying. But my favorite moment is the opening beach scene. But my favorite piece of art? The NEMSIS RISING FROM THE GROUND! IT'S MASSIVE! I'm loving this slow build with Soundwave's plot unlike Starscream's random attacks. Overall, great issue.

I find it wholesome and somewhat sad that Spike's dad became part of the Matrix, because in a way it now connects Optimus with Humans so much more as his memories are mixed with Spike's dad's memories. Optimus' emotions are stronger and his drive to protect is making him more of a Dad as he is always been described as in G1 by fans and producers alike. Certainly this re-imagining is both strong and deep and it does pull the heart's strings very well. I'm a G1 fan and TF Prime fan all the way, and this comics series as an alternate take of G1 is rough, yet good.

I can’t believe transformers has made me emotional. I haven’t felt this emotional since the 86 movie(if you know, you know). I am addicted to this series, so much so I would love to get a Netflix animated series based on this comic with Peter Cullen and frank welker. Ugh I would pay 💰 to see that.

The implications of Soundwave contacting Shockwave to get his fellow Decepticon to bring them backup opens the door for characters we could see in the upcoming issues. The backup could be Cons like Blitzwing,the Conheads,rainmakers,the Combaticons,and maybe even characters the made their debut in the third season of the G1 cartoon like Octane,the Predacons,and the Battlechargers. It’s got me excited that’s for sure!

I’m side-eyeing the scrap outta Thundercracker right now. I’m hearing echoes of his IDW05 self but I’m not sure. His hesitation is notable. And tho screamer is dead(?) and was the main betrayal of what happened to Skywarp, SOUNDWAVE was the one who suggested the tactic. It definitely get one thinking about what might transpire if TC learns the truth at an in-opportune moment.

For sure, the thing with Skywarp could still come back to haunt Soundwave. I guess it depends on how honorable the other Decepticons are or if Thundercracker is more of an outlier in that regard.

The kill count killed me when that popped up 😂 this issue may be my favourite so far, loved seeing both teams separately doing their own thing as well as the Cybertron plot happening at the same time + I loved seeing Jetfire return, Thundercrack still being empathetic even in the EU and I’m interested to see this version of Astrotrain! Can’t wait to see where this next arc takes us but I will theorise that I feel a ‘Optimus calling Spike his son’ moment happening at some point. Great video dude!

Another excellent issue. Soundwave's Plan is a good one. Thundercracker is my favorite character so far. I like seeing a Decepticon with morals. Its only a matter of time before he learns the truth about Skywarp. As much as I like Cliffjumper, its good Arcee is going to save Carly. Arcee was in Carly's place when Ultra Magnus saved her. This is good way for Arcee to honor his memory.

so much to love in this issues. 1) Astrotrain being stuck in the Nemesis and the lack of other deceptions makes me wonder if this violent versions of Astrotrain went Harry Warden on any of the other Decepticons that were like wise trapped on the Nemesis. 2) Elite-1 facial expressions are amazing and cova bother her aguish and her determination. 3) Carly and Spike further dived in how they deal with grief. 4) I see Skywarp's repairing of Wheeljack's legs in 2 way A. a form of "mistreatment induced betrayal" after having been show how it wars Starscream and Soundwave that ripped him for parts or a matter of "because you were nice to me" because Arcee to a rocket to save Skywarp's "life". 5) love Arcee's caption margin pose. 6) I hade a feeling that Jetfire coming back from the dead was going to be a thing with how issue 7 ended but half alive is a good twist, bonus point for Optimus's grief over the decision. 7) the whole Iron Apprentice thing reminds me of the Mentor-Mentee thing in the IDW's 2019 continuity, something Arcee did in that continuity. 8) Optmus getting dream of being Spike's dad give me this inverted feeling of High-Q fro the Marvel Comics when High-Q ended up becoming Optimus Prime reborn at the end also the Idea of Autobot or even Decepticon leaders adopting human children is not unheard of in the Japanese exclusive series Victory and Super God Masterforce. 9) for the "Beachcomber" hiding Arcee, Spike, Carly and Cliffjumper either A* beachcomber got patiala reactivated from Wheeljack tinkering with Skywarp/Telatran or B* this is the drone that Hawk uses to keep an eye on the Autobots, we know he has some way of getting images of them as we saw in the last issue of Duke. 10) Shockwave's surprise at seeing Soundwave is something that gets glossed over in most adaptations, both cartoon and the Marvel comics have the Cybertron bound forces not at all surprised that their missing leaders are alive on a far off planet and just fall in like likes is business as unusual but here it look like it will play a factor.

Great observations all around, and very interesting thought about a Beachcomber/Hawk connection! And I totally agree about the whole glossing over the missing leaders thing and I'm glad that's not what's happening here. I loved the last line in this issue for that reason.

I think one of the things I like the most about this issue is it highlights how the deaths of their respective fathers have basically put Carly and Spike in the opposite directions they started at in this series. Spike initially was the one who wanted to do whatever he could to help the Autobots, but thanks to a combination of getting first-hand experience of what getting caught in the conflict is like and losing his dad, Spike is starting to distance himself from them. He clearly doesn't have any malice towards the Autobots but it's clear he doesn't really know how to feel about the situation anymore. Meanwhile, Carly, who wanted to stay out of it because this was all bigger than them before is now gung ho to do SOMETHING because she's desperate for some absolution and closure for her father's death. It's just a nice look at how different people respond to grief and trauma differently. Also, yay! Sympathetic to humans Thundercracker! Woo Hoo! I'm glad their opening the door to resurrections while also putting limits on it. This means we could see characters come back under other writers (Assuming Johnson decides not to stick around after issue 12 like has been rumored) while also giving consequences to those resurrections so we still have some stakes.

Man, that's an awesome point about Carly and Spike! That's really interesting. Another cool thing about that is that Carly is sort of becoming self-destructive and harsh like how Sparky started out. We've seen that Spike wasn't able to really counteract that and/or get through to his dad, so, in a way, it kinda tragically puts Spike back into a similar relationship pattern with a self-destructive person. But who knows, maybe he'll be able to break that pattern with Carly. Or maybe not. Maybe Arcee has the best path forward for Carly by making her an Iron Apprentice.

Carly is an absolute live wire now. Of course, the two main human character's fathers' deaths were very different circumstances. Sparky had a choice and self-sacrificed himself to save Optimus, who he thought would also save Earth. Carly's dad on the other hand, did not get that luxury, he was flat-out murdered. That definitely has to factor in on the grieving process. But right now, Carly is mobile, able, and apparently has access to some pretty hardcore weaponry. Whereas Spike, wheelchair bound, and still recovering from a near-fatal gunshot wound to the stomach, has no choice but to sit and process all of this stuff. The downtime for him has to be awful, but oddly therapeutic at the same time as he's had some time to at least absorb and process all of this, while Carly is putting all of her focus on vengeance. Too long with either approach won't be good for either character. Revenge will obviously eat a character's soul, but also sitting and thinking about the loss of your dad (and brother) will eventually overwhelm someone as well if they dwell on it long enough. That said, current advantage goes to Spike as he at least seems to be working through the heavy shit while Carly is instead lashing out.

The description you gave of this being “an alternate G1 with the gritty of the movies while taken for a different spin” is probably my favorite way anyone has described this comic lol Also the art (as usual) is INCREDIBLE, the way everything pops out but isn’t too much for the eyes is great and all the details too like when Elita is carrying that mystery bot and you can see all of their details and whatnot. Also scenes like when Optimus flashes back to when Spark was drawing with Spike and talking him out for a walk IS BEAUTIFUL, probably *THE* scene for me in this comic and, again, I just love how the bots are drawn, like Wheeljack and Arcee. Also that scene of Beachcomber has me mighty curious. Great issue and loved the review!

So I finally got a chance to read the issue (curse my habit of going to the comic shop on Fridays) and here are my takeaways: 1. Aw rip Frenzy :( you were my favorite cassette. 2. YES Thundercracker getting that sweet character development! I know IDW just did that, but since it had been such a long ignored aspect of his character I do not care. I’d love to see pull a full face turn and outright join the Autobots after Prime shows him what Screamer and Soundwave did to his black & purple compadre. 3. The art is fantastic. I was a bit hesitant going from DWJ to Corona, but I think Corona absolutely meets the expectations here. Plus he draws a sweet Wheeljack (and really that’s all I need). The colors are still magnificent of course. 4. I am also not an Astrotrain enjoyer, but that was a great entrance. I like that they made him big, I think the bigger the better with AT. 5. I like that Jetfire is kind of back but also not. If we’re going to bring back characters there’d better be at least some consequences. 6. I hope Magnus and Elita can make it long enough to meet up with the main cast. Love those two, and Optimus needs his best bud and sparkmate back. And finally and most importantly… 7. WHEELJACK. GOT. LEGS. LEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. (Don’t be afraid to use them to run away from danger pal! This is one of those real violent continuities!) Anyway, outstanding work as always MB3!

Oh, who am I kidding, he totally would! The consequences for bringing characters back is a welcome, welcome addition. Be interested in seeing what else they do there. And that would be pretty surprising to see Thundercracker outright join the Autobots, but I'm not opposed!

In regards to the death toll, while we don't know the exact class the USS Henry Harrison is, the Nimitz-Class has a crew of about 5000, which includes both sailors and the airwing. So yeah, Soundwave killed way more people than the ones we saw on-panel So, Henty Harrison, the president that the carrier is named for, was only in office for 31 days, and given how this ship only showed up last issue before getting sunk in this one, is darkly appropriate.

@@Moonbase3 spoilers for the next issue as Skybound just released a preview of the next issue: The Autobots do make it to where the Nemesis is, unfortunately, Shockwave chooses to teleoprt from Cybertronian all the way to Earth at the exact spot and at the exact moment, hitting Jetfire and causing the 'Bots to crash land right in front of the Constructions, and Shocky himself appears right in front of Cliff jumper! Could Cliff die here perhaps?

The Decepticons ship underwater wasn't the Nemesis in the show, it was the Conquest but it still makes logical sense here - except Johnson doesn't tell us HOW Soundwave knew where the ship was. Not calling it a plot hole just yet, but I read it and I thought it as I read it. There probably should have been more than just Astrotrain on the ship, too.

That's right! That slipped my mind - I don't remember their second shuttle being named the Conquest, though...actually, I don't remember it ever being given a name in the show. In any case, you raise a good point about Soundwave knowing where the ship is. Some stuff must have happened off panel 😂 Even a little throwaway line explaining it would go a long way!

Something I hope this continuity explores is how Cybertronians deal with death & rebirth. Granted we've seen characters come back before throughout the franchise but we've never seen it done in a way with how others TRULY feel about it. For example: imagine Bumblebee is actually brought back at some point. Would he feel grateful to be resurrected again or absolutely miserable that he's back into the war after being deceased where he wouldn't have to deal with that stuff anymore ? And what about the person that does bring them back ? Imagine how Ratchet must feel, proud he managed to save a life thought gone or absolutely disgusted he's essentially tampered with a corpse to save a comrade to aid in the war efforts ? All in all that's something I'd be down to see tackled officially since sometimes it does get glossed over & the scene with Jetfire was really well done that it made me feel pretty bad that not only is he back (which is good for us fans 😂) into war but the poor lad is stuck in vehicle mode for the time being.

Feel we are going to get more character moments from DWJ now that he's only focussing on one task of the comic and I feel Jorge Corona is a strong suit to this comic bring alot more from the faces of the Autobot and Decepticons can't wait to see how he draws Megatron*. *Gonna be a big deal because it's a question of when at this point with the FCBD

Well in the animated series. Astrotrain and Blitzwing did try to take over the Decepticons...of course it was that one episode. So I can see Astrotrain maybe being a bit surly.

This story just keeps getting better, Skyfire brought back to life with limitations that could could lead to an expedition to Cybertron for a spare parts fetch quest, and Thundercracker hesitation to kill humans like his IDW counterpart, raging Astrotrain and Skywarp working to help the Autobots. Makes sense considering what Starscream did to him. That could be Ultra Magnus cuz the original and current day toy always had the ability to shed its armour to reveal the classic all white Optimus lookalike body, which was notable smaller in appearance. That said, awesome vid bud 👍 keep em coming, it’s great to watch ur channel grow and I always look forward to new Transformers vids 😎

Thanks! And, good question. I think they could modify/alter their physical bodies to become more human-like, but I think the potential is there for their personalities/consciousness to be greatly influenced by humanity through cultural exchange...but also, now, maybe through physical change as well, with what happened with Sparky and the matrix. We'll have to see how much that changes Optimus!

Another excellent issue. Soundwave's Plan is a good one. Thundercracker is my favorite character so far. I like seeing a Decepticon with morals. Its only a matter of time before he learns the truth about Skywarp. As much as I like Cliffjumper, its good Arcee is going to save Carly. Arcee was in Carly's place when Ultra Magnus saved her. This is good way for Arcee to honor his memory.
