Just wanted you to know this has worked perfectly. Thank you, such a good idea. We love our salad leaves from our shaded patio area but last year l had them all in indiv containers which was a pain when harvesting. l decided to try your idea this year.. We had already bought large plastic planters on sale from wilko and l planted them up with chives in centre then mint, oregano and parsley in a cross pattern and the 4 left over spaces l put red apache lettuce , spinach, red leaf mustard & red leaf pak choi. The containers look so pretty and so practical, l just go out with a colander and pick a few leaves off each salad leaves and the plants carry on growing & still look ornamental. Perfect.

I planted up my herbs last weekend. I like to have them at home as it means i use them a lot more. i will dry a TON for winter too. I like making my own mix of herbs! what ever grows the best in the year.

Now you've got me wondering where I put my mint pots...... can't remember what I did with them last fall. The snow just finally melted and I guess I'll go look for them today :) After I plant out the peas... The weather is supposed to be 20 degrees (F) colder than normal this week, maybe I'll wait on the peas after all. 🥶

May be a good idea to wait they wont grow much anyway so why risk it Thank you Paula

Ivan, I have just the right trough for your herb garden idea. Two spinach seedlings I found with the beets are going to be happy in it. I have rosemary, lavender, oregano, thyme and mint rooted cuttings that will be happy growing together instead of being in pots. I watched just in time as I was going to give them away. Oh, my!

I will have to root some more to give away. Oh, will borage be too big? I have volunteers in a pot.

I have herbs in containers that survived winter, namely sage, thyme, rosemary and parsley. I'm going to try growing them in the poundshop stackable tubs. As well as strawberries.

Thank you Ivan. We have heavy clay soil with bad drainage and harash winter up here in the north so most of my herbs wont survive the winter. Perhaps I should plant them in containers. Salvia, rosemary, thyme are struggling but chives make it.
