An awesome view of the 9411 TEU Mediterranean Shipping Company Neo-Panamax container vessel MSC SILVIA passes through and exits the new Agua Clara Locks of the expanded Panama Canal on her southbound transit. The Panama Canal Authority tugs CERRO AZUL (bow), and CERRO CAMPANA (stern) help maneuver and position the 94,500 ton vessel.
It take up to three hours for these large vessels tp pass through the three lock chambers of the Agua Clara Locks. Total transit time for the entire Panama Canal can be up to 10-12 hours.
