Lol! The “baby on board” stickers aren’t so others will be more easy driving around you because you have a baby, it’s for medical/EMS in case you get into an accident so they know to check for a baby first before they tend to anyone else in the accident and/or to check for a baby in piled debris if the accident is bad enough! Just wanted to comment because it seems to be pretty common that people think this and that’s not the case! Those stickers save lives! 💖

I absolutely DESPISE when people who do NOT have OCD, say “oh my gosh, my ocd could never” just because things like mismatched hangers are in a closet. When in actuality, OCD is so much more. It hinders lives and is/can be so complex that some people with it cannot live a normal life. I absolutely love the raw and realness of this duo no matter the hate they’d get over it!

Same with people saying "bipolar" to say moody. Considering the number of people who suffer it, and the number who die due to bipolar every year, when people say that they might as well be wearing a dunce cap. It's basically just like someone getting a haircut or losing weight and saying they're so cancer-stricken. They just look like a horrible and very ignorant human.

I have become obnoxious in my household because I live with my parents as a single parent and having ocd, add, narcolepsy and bipolar well they can handle all that but it’s the ocd for them it gets a little much🤯😫🫣 because here is a little example so recently I was trying to calm my brain and allow my mom to put dishes away knowing I live with her she has given me the task of keeping the kitchen tidy & in order but sometimes my mental episodes come on and I need to calm down as best as possible.. anyhow I walk into the kitchen see my mom had put dishes away and was now in the middle of washing dishes it drove me nuts I told her to go rest due to her knees being slightly injured and I had to take over because she wasn’t washing the dishes correctly nor were the dishes put away properly and this is the very minimal of what I do because it gets worse from here on out and I tell my mom I wish I could chill out turn my brain off n’ just be normal but I sadly can’t. I still have yet to find a therapist I could truly trust but when I find the right one my ass is going straight back to therapy and if it gets to a ugly point I am going to check myself into a clinic but at the worse I normal take off walking around for a couple hours before showing up back home😖😬🫠

“Perfectionism is a form of procrastination” - less than 5 minutes in and I already feel attacked. But you’re right. I’m currently trying to work through my perfectionism in therapy because I use it as a safety net because I’m ultimately afraid of being criticised but because of the perfectionism, I also don’t end up getting things done and I also don’t end up going after the things I want. So yh, it’s a bit of a lose lose situation. A colleague of mine recently told me “ *We* *can’t* *let* *perfect* *become* *the* *enemy* *of* *good* ” and I’m trying to remember that. Thanks for the therapy session Laura. I thoroughly appreciate it

Random thought but I feel like social anxiety can be a form of perfectionism I don’t feel like I have perfectionism at all but the one thing that I do judge myself on is speaking to other people! I really resonated with the do-nothing say some thing it will be nothing “because I feel like when I’m in a social setting when an uncomfortable I would rather just be mute then speak my mind and get judged for it I think what I learned from this podcast is not to care so much what people think of what I say and just speak my mind because it’s better than doing nothing and saying nothing in certain situations! One thing that's great about being a content creator and a brand owner is that your mind is always busy. Granted it can be VERY overwhelming, BUT, personally for me, I worry about growing old and death (I know that's weird), but I do, and all of that stuff would help me take mind off of that stuff or WHATEVER worries or fears you have.

Oh I am the complete opposite of the person who can’t stand mismatched hangers. The last thing I want to do is throw out the hundreds of perfectly good hangers I have collected my whole life and buy new, matching ones. And then what if you can’t find the exact ones anymore? Then you’re going to “ruin” your whole closet! I think it’s a huge waste of time, money, and concern to have all matching hangers and that is the that on that! 💞

normalize living with our parents beyond what is deemed shameful by society and support one another as a family. In America, I find alot of the problems and financial problems that exist would be solved if the baseline culture was like that in Mexico or Albania where im from. Kids don't get kicked out at 18 and families live together for life in some cases. We take care of our own until they are truly ready to be on their own, if they choose to. It's just strange here.

Laura... You just inspired me to plan a talk about my journey with overcoming my "perfectionism". The thing Manny played from TikTok is TOTALLY 100% Me...I have held off on doing so many things because I was afraid of myself as well. Manny's journey is like my own. My dad was a perfectionist so I was kind of raised that way everything had to be to the highest standard where you could find no mistake in it and it took a long time for me to overcome that. I grew up in a very competitive household: playing sports, I was a straight-A student and on two different honor societies. It all came crashing down one day when I was only 16 and had a total nervous breakdown. I never enjoyed being a child because of perfectionism. So y'all... Don't do what I did! I need to do a grwm and talk about it soon! Thanks for inspiring me to talk about this Laura & Manny!!! 💜💜💜

Thank you!!! This is something I’ve struggled when i was younger too. As the first child of an immigrant I had to the perfect one, not problematic, the role model, my moms emotional support, the problem solver. And now I have this conversation with my husband as well. They way he thinks, is different than the way I think. They way he solves a problem, may be different than how I solve it. It may take me longer but I solve it or get it done. There’s is no one way of accomplishing something - it’s different for everyone. It’s been a learning process for the both of us. We’re a good team together but we’re also so different. I learn from him, he learns from me, we learn together and we’re not perfect. And I’m finally Ok with that!

It’s also worth noting- I’m a perfectionist bc I feel like such a mess in every other way. When I can control SOMETHING and make that perfect, it feels like a success. Again, it’s a coping mechanism. When people are pointing out that it would drive them crazy, they aren’t really commenting on you so much-they are envious that you don’t have to be perfect. They wish they could be like that, too. (And some people just suck, so there’s that…)

Some of the best advice Ive ever gotten was after I had my first daughter. She was premature and in the nicu. One of my nurses was coming in to check on me and I expressed how it’s kind of hard to hear everyone’s babies in the other rooms because I just wished my baby was there with me, but I know I should be grateful because at least she’s alive and that’s not everyone’s story. She told me that it’s really damaging to invalidate your own personal struggles just because someone has it worse then you. I think about that a lot. We don’t have to live in our pity parties forever, but it’s okay to acknowledge when shit is hard! Just because others would be grateful to be us, doesn’t make our pain magically go away.

As y'all were talking about never turning it off, I related. I am a preschool teacher, I teach headstart, and I feel like I am constantly "on" I always have emails, parents, kids, contacting me. I have to do assessments, lesson plans, and activities after work hours. We do after school activities, meetings, home visits, and much more. I can't post certain things, I can't go out in the town I teach and drink or party, that would tarnish my teaching. So I feel that, on a much smaller scale, but I still feel that.

What do I hate about content? People saying “BUYING $500 worth of makeup from FIVE BELOW” and then they only spend $150 lol. Kidding, love you Manny! 😘
