You guys are great, I'm loving your channel you review the boats I’m interested in. When we were making the decision on which manufacturer to go with we got down to the Amel 60’ and the Contest 67 CS both great boats but the Amel was our choice because of the protected cockpit.

@@SVTONICBoatWives Your channel is fine the way it is, what I would like to see more of is actual sailing footage. Keep up the good work I look forward to seeing more videos from you 👍

Oh that sliding hatch is the “thumb buster” that is what it’s called, it will take your thumbnail from normal to blue in 2.3 seconds and also make you yell like a sailor.

Comparing this with the HR 50 with about the same deplacement and optionlist, which one is your favourite and why? Does the HR feel mor roomy inside?

She is a fabulous sailboat. All the videos filmed a Boot were with my new GoPro as you can see it is not as good as my old GoPro so sending it back. But if anyone wants to chip in and help me with a wide angle lens for my Sony A7111 (1500€) there is a super thanks button so any donation welcome. Thank you for watching

@@SVTONICBoatWives Try changing the setting to the super wide angle format n the menu! You may have to film at a slightly lower resolution that 4k. Not sure the model your working with. Google it before you go returning it, all go pros have a wide angle option.

Beds, Bunks, with hatches over them ? Anyone else had a problem in a torrential downpour with an open hatch drenching bedding ? The usual waterproof Matress covers haven't turned out to be comfy. So anyone know of any soft comfy mattress Covers that can help with Brain Fart Open Hatch drenching? Changing bedding on top is fine if the mattress is dry, but drying out a Soaking wet mattress is a right pita on a boat, and much worse if it is Seawater. 🤔👍

We had a leaking hatch last year on a lagoon 42 and my daughter ended up with a damp bed that took a week to dry out. She spent most of the time in our bed which is fine but she is à wiggly kicker.

The amel 50 has some serious competition I wonder what she sails like
@rouslant
@rouslant Жыл бұрын
The amel 50 has strictly no competition, since Amel is a blue water yacht while this boat is a super expensive day cruiser. Nobody wants to cross oceans without a decent watch/steering position, and those wheels in the open are complete nonsense in 2023. A deep semi-enclosed cockpit is mandatory for a blue water program, hallberg rassy, amel, catamarans, wauquiez, garcia, ovnis, sirius, island packet, they have it all, enclosed steering position. This isn't a blue water cruiser. Just a toy.
@PhilipMakowski
@PhilipMakowski Жыл бұрын
@@rouslant80% of the yachts that sailed across the Atlantic and Pacific with us had open helms, they were more than fine as most of the time you're on autopilot anyway. I'm more interested in how sturdy the build is (it's a Contest, should be very good) and how sea kindly the motion is - with the hull design, displacement and the ballast ratio of 34%, should be fine. It would be nice to have glass enclosed cockpit and the grab rails on the coachroof do need to be longer, but it's still a better blue water yacht than most.
@PhilipMakowski

@@rouslantBTW, only one sailor out of the 100 or so we had the pleasure of sailing across the Atlantic and Pacific with sailed mostly without autopilot, and that was an ex-Olympic sailor from NZ. And that was on a very open Bene Sense 50. Despite the issues he had with the Bene, he still loved it.

@@rouslant amel is the overgloried pond cruiser here. it has pathetic ballast to displacement, one that is more in line with cheap mass production cruiser. good luck using it to cross the ocean in a bad day.

I have just delivered a Lagoon 51 with raymarine systems as lagoon have switched from B&G for some of their models. I think they both have their strong points and failures but as long as they get me from a to b with little fuss I don’t mind which one I use. Thank you for watching

Having a very grouchy Morning thanks to my ex, so will avoid my usual egative observations, and devote my comment to Good Coffee on a boat, and wonder why people bother with Coffee Machines . While I am mostly a Tea Drinker, I do love a cup of good Coffe, so none of those pods or coffee makers with filter papers for me, as the papers suck the Coffee flavour oils out of the Brew. So What works well and safely when Afloat in a Boat ? A Single Sjin thick stainless steel Cafetiere, with a fine Stainless steel plunger filter (have several spares onboard of those plunger filters, as they do wear out, as a less frequent Coffee drinker, I get about 18 months out of one filter for perspective. Those plungers are common sizes, and not expensive to get hold of. A thick walled single skinned Cafetiere, keeps the contents hot for long enough. A bag of an excellent preground coffee blend to your taste, is not expensive per kilo either, though smaller bags can be handier, or get a Coffee mill and fresh grind the Beans. If you drop the Stainless Cafetiere, it doesn't break either. I got a decent sized one from Amazon a couple of years ago for £21. Twin wall Stainless Cafetiere are likely to wear through quite fast, and to me have no perceivable benefits over thicker single wall ones. Hopefully that helps some Cedicated Coffee drinkers. By the way, a very recent Study confirms the findings of a Swedish Study Years Ago, by researchers looking to prove that Drinking Coffee was really Bad for us, only to find that Coffee is actually good for Humans. I'm Convinced certain Teas are even better for us than Coffee, but Good Coffee is certainly worth enjoying. Spanish Tapas Bar Coffee, is the only Coffee I can start the day with, ideally with a shot of Aguardiente in it, which fully brings out the Flavour. In the Mountains of Galicia, the Coffe bar has a shelf in front of the Counter, with bottles of Aguardiente along it for customers to help themselves to. Wonderful. 👍 Best Wishes and Fair Winds. Bob. Now back to the Ex. Ugh.
