When the Esort came out in 1980, I wanted one so bad. I never got that model, but I eventually bought a 1994 Escort LX wagon. My husband and I went everywhere in that car. It eventually died with over 230,000 miles on it. It still looked good, no rust. We were actually sad as it was towed away.

Every time I hear about the Ford Escort, I think about when I was in college at CSUN. A student volunteer comes to my night class, and makes an announcement to the class if you feel uncomfortable walking back to your car during the night, call the Escort Service and they'll accompany you. Another student in the class, who I think was from Japan, missed something in the translation. She mentions she drives a Ford Escort and it's good to know the college offers "Escort service." Yep. They install new tires and brakes, and have the car ready before classes end. I still laugh about that.

When I hear Ford escort I think back to our blue in and out 85 and 1/2 model year that survived an odometer flip, my sister failing to get it's oil changed and once being our only work vehicle. Yes we drove it for about 9 years.

Whenever 10 chances was played and the first two prizes were revealed with the musical cue, if the contestant wasn't ecstatic, they didn't watch the show that much. Because any "friend in true" would know that it's 10 chances by then. This was true for most contestants.
