Rod's voice cracks always get me. He was so good at this job, but I can imagine it was so loud in Studio 33 that he had to push it a bit and as a result his voice cracks were hilarious. I'm good with George Gray's style, and of course Johnny Olsen was the original, but Rod Roddy and Rich Fields did it best in my opinion.

I loved them, from Bob's tuxedo, to the high prize budget, to the "nighttime" lights in the studio to even the light music bumper they have when the third/sixth contestant transition from their pricing game to the showcase showdown (since they were on primetime commercial cadence instead of daytime). It's not China. It was just was relatively new technology at the time, which dramatically decreases in price over time even accounting for inflation. Back then most steam irons were much larger and mostly owned by dry cleaners. Remember the first color TVs cost $1500 in 1953 dollars, equal to about $15k today. I remember buying my first 9600 baud modem for $150 in 1994 dollars, you can get those for a buck at a discount parts warehouse now, if any even still exist.
