The acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) matrix is a tool used in therapy to help individuals increase their psychological flexibility. It consists of a grid with four quadrants. The top two quadrants represent the individual's internal experiences, such as thoughts, feelings, and sensations. The bottom two quadrants represent their external actions and the context in which those actions occur. The matrix helps individuals identify their values and choose actions aligned with those values, while also acknowledging and accepting difficult thoughts and emotions.
