That's a Mercedes OM642 engine that they took and modified by removing all the diesel emissions system parts off of it, like the DPF, EGR, CCV and the SCR. Remove all those and you have a bulletproof engine that will go on and on and on and on, while poluting the atmosphere like crazy. Itsy the same engine in my car!! Just wish it didn't have to be suffocated wit all those diesel emissions systems. O_O

One thing people seem to forget is that Safran's SMA diesel in Cessna Skylane JT-A is in the same power class and has a good track record. AFAIK, it's not heavier than this. I'm afraid SMA is going to be the biggest competitor for CD300 (Thielert 2.0), not EPS or RED or other crazy German thing.

Vertical Horizontal what? 'Its not a clean sheet' but it is a clean sheet? Can someone please translate that ?
@MikeKobb8 жыл бұрын
+Pete Kuhns I think he meant that the design is based in part on the automotive engine (not a clean sheet design), but the engine itself will not have many parts in common with the automotive engine (clean sheet). They're moving from taking an automotive core and modifying it (horizontal) to making it from the ground up (vertical).
