I love that idea. In season 6, there's an Easter Egg about Troy. The news had a headline saying: "LeVar Burton and a non-celebrity has been captured at sea by pirates." The non-celebrity is definitely Troy. The movie could be the study group trying to rescue Troy from pirates. Not too far off from the crazy episodes they made. Or Pierce had been faking his own death to test to see if Troy took his offer, or just an excuse to send everyone his semen.

Gillian talking about Community giving people the feeling of being part of a group really got to me. I first watched this show during a low time in my life when I didn't really have a 'community' of my own, I never felt like I was a part of something. But watching Community made me feel like I was that 8th person in their study group, it made feel like I was a part of something bigger than myself. Watching this show made me realise that I had to go out and seek communities of my own which prompted me to take a leap of faith and join my school's drama club. That was 3 years ago, joining drama club was one of the best decisions of my life and taking that bow with my friends on opening night of our show made feel like I was a part of something bigger than myself, it made me feel like I was truly part of a community. So thank you Community, thank you Dan Harmon, thank you to the cast and everyone that worked on it, you've changed my life for the better and countless others too. He is a great actor and comedian. I think sometimes the writing made his character a little too much of a stand-in/mouthpiece for the writers, and his "what have we learned" moments occasionally felt predictable in a way the rest of the show wasn't, but he really made the role his own. 36:39 I know exactly what Gillian is talking about. I myself am an only child and an introvert and watching shows like Community is really like watching what your dream group of friends could be like. That was so apparent during the different timelines episode because watching this diverse group rock out to Roxanne put a huge smile on my face because even though I don’t have this amazing group of friends, it’s amazing to watch them be so happy. I think that’s why shows like Community and The Office really resonates with people because you are seeing how much just a random group of people can impact your life in the most positive way. Jacobs is so talented no one else could have utilized their talent so well to keep Britta overflowing with passion empathy and humor when the writing gave her the short stick. I don't know which sitcom was the "cool" sitcom at the time. But I stand by the opinion that Community was the Best/Funniest sitcom at the time, if not ever. I'm also remind of a comparison of it to Big Bang, in that, while Big Bang was about nerds, the nerds were mostly the butts of the jokes(as well as Shelton's autism), while Community was the show FOR nerds, and embraced geek culture, and never made Ahbed's autisms the butt of any jokes. Lastly want to say that I love how group shares in real life the love they makes us feel thru the screen.

You'll appreciate this, then: on the wall in one episode there's a graffiti'd wall. Among the marks on that wall is "BBT SUCKS". PLus, there are a couple of other eps where graffiti (or the Study Room whiteboard) has a corrupted version of it, e.g. "BBE SUCKS" or BBE SUGLS". OK, you can go Easter Egg hunting now. (-:
@SCharlesDennicon4 жыл бұрын
First of all, I have a hard time considering Community a sitcom, it sounds pretty reductive. A sitcom doesn't have paintball episodes, or episodes like Epidemiology and Basic Intergluteal. Secondly, if I considered Community a sitcom and had to rank it, I'm not sure it'd be my #1 because of season 3's plumbing school and Chang dynasty subplots that were more silly than funny, and because the abysmal season 4, where a lot of things felt forced. I mean, if we're talking number of laughs, even very basic sitcoms like Friends or HIMYM may have made me laugh more. But the thing is... I must have watched these two twice, while Community has episodes that I almost know by heart because I must have watched them a dozen times. Hell, I may have watched EVERY episode of seasons 1 and 2 a dozen times. ^^; When it was good, it was more than good, and it's the only TV show that turned me into a die hard fan. Which is why I forgave its fuck ups, in the end. Especially because season 5 and 6, although a bit bumpy, made up for it. And even season 4, I could get through it thanks to the cast, especially Pudi and Brie. That was my three cents.
@padfootprophet4 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about the comparison to bbt the other day. As someone autistic the way bbt treats Sheldon as a joke vs the way Community treats Abed as a person is a big reason why I will always come back to this show (and why I gave up on bbt). Community will get me emotionally every time
