That looks really great. I actually think, oddly shaped though it is in 'real' life, the canopy really sells it. I didn't realise it was missing till you put it in there and now it couldn't do without it. Very period accurate. Reminds me a little of the Moor in Sheffield. It looks superb, especially from under the bridge and from above right. Can't wait to see the interiors.
@Chandwell2 жыл бұрын
Ah yeah. The Moor is a great example of this kind of thing. As was the Eggbox town hall. Such a shame they pulled it down and replaced it with a pleasant garden and fountain!

@Chandwell Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I hope it wasn't too intimidating. It was a nuisance trying to get it right, and this approach is not for everyone. In fact, I am not sure it is for me either... it's been a bit too much of a pain for a not quite good enough gain, if you see what I mean. It has taken weeks and weeks to get this to this point.

I love watching these, as a bit of a tonic to counter the relentless political stuff I watch on KZbin. I can only take so much about how bad things are getting, and a bit of escapism into the early nineties when ,by comparison, it looks like a golden era, is lovely. Keep on keeping on.
@Chandwell Жыл бұрын
You share my own views on that, I think!

Michael The High St front of Chandwell Indoor Market is looking good. If the backs of the other side of High St look as good, think they will add to the blend of Chandwell developing over time reacting to it history. Will they be all older buildings or will some have more modern additions like on some of the backs on Back Market St. could this be the place for the back of Methodist Chapel and Hall like on the one on Walkergate Otley. Think the pavements on High St to under the Railway Bridge look good and set the scene well. Looking forward to how it develops further. Ian
@Chandwell2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ian. I'm in the process of mocking up the buildings based on prototypes in the city centre of Bradford. It takes some time trying to get the size right but hopefully it will look OK. There's an added challenge with Bridge Lane being in the mix, but I am hoping I can just ignore that!
@jamfjord2 жыл бұрын
Another fantastic addition to Chandwell, it really is incredible what you've already achieved on a work-in-progress layout. With regards to using Photopia for the perspective on the graphical textures, have you tried GIMP? I find it quite useful for doing that kind of work.
@Chandwell Жыл бұрын
I should get GIMP installed.
@jasonpierce-newmodelbarmy33942 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael. As usual some superb forced perspective work there. Are you going to leave the canopy cardboard coloured or give it a watercolour wash?
@Chandwell2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's already had a light wash of colour, and in real life it does look vaguely concrete-like rather than cardboard-like. But I think it needs something else... Not sure what yet though! What kind of shade/colour wash would you use, do you think?
@jasonpierce-newmodelbarmy33942 жыл бұрын
@@Chandwell I think I'd be trying to tie it in with the colour or the lighter grey pillars between the shops to make it look like it was an original feature of the building. You could try dry brushing it with a very light grey over the existing colour to see how that looks. Painting will be easier I guess than applying a texture paper. Some faint lines penciled in from back to front equally spaced might enhance it, as I doubt a concrete canopy of that size would be cast in a single piece? I'm sure whatever you do will look epic though.....after all you are the Guru of card scratch building!
