Hi, Could this be used for making water tight bags? I have a roll of bag material (500 gauge) 16 inches wide. Typically we transport our live fish in bags with a sealed bottom and cable tied top with water and oxygen. This looks good for creating the bottom seal.

you COULD a couple things his is a conveyer so you would NEED to guide each bag on the belt if full of water and or fish, also the heat level need to expereiment with and the tightness of the seal this can be adjusted by the rollers.

How do fill your packages? I find it very laborious to open the bag feel it manually with a spoon or ladle. Prior to filling I have to open up the bag and then pop out the bottom.

Our company had the same issue... we eventually went to a resealable pouch which was pre-sealed above the ziplock, and the bottom was left open. For larger bulky items, they had the choice of gusset sides so the bottom can still be sealed normally, but for seed it was not an issue. For sauce, which I am guessing you are working with, they even offer the pour nozzle types. Look for custom resealable pouch/bag on google, they have several companies very willing to work with you.

If you put the end of the bag right on the middle of the infeed wheels, does it ever wander in and out? Trying to decide if this could work for a small, light package without much room to seal on, so trying to get the seal as close to the edge of the bag as possible

yes I actually do this by where on the rollers you actually place the bag to seal be careful but place it further out on the rollers

hey anthonay we are packaging in our usda inspected licensed commercial kitchen we have one this is a little over 2,000 sqft. these tpes of sealers are very small and should be alloed in cottage food use also. I would not say this particular unit is large enough to be commecial

You talked about cottage food law , but in my state , California there are a list of items that does not fall under cottage food law , such as hot sauce , beef jerky , salsa etc. What would be done in this case if I was to start a hot sauce company at home ? Is there ways to start one from scratch or do I have to get a co packer to do it for me ?

hello yes ( I should do a video on this) but this can come form 2 areas the conveyor, or the wheels on the unit spinning may be loose and need to be tightened and or loosened. the conveyor can be raised or lowered.

Made-in-china and dhgate have small jars like you are describing, they call them makeup jars but they are food safe. For sealing you will need a specialized version of something like this that comes down from above. I am seriously happy to see so many people engaging in making small businesses, with the present job market.
