Loaded question: Quick summary, if Damian doesn't mind my comment: Depends on your method of distribution, your state and possibly the county you are in as well. There are about 3,007 counties in the US, and of course 50 states, so that is potentially 3,057 different sets of rules for food manufacturing. In California, for instance, a PFR (Processed Food Registration) is required for the scope of distribution we are after, non food cottage distribution...took us 13 months to get our PFR, just received the certificate this week. Consider checking with your local county health department for a set of their rules first, then the state. Study and know the rules in depth because some health inspectors and municipal workers don't have a complete understanding of their own rules/codes. I've had to correct my city on their interpretation of their own code, it was crazy...they wanted to send me and my money away, gave me the run around. I recited their code ,from memory, to three seperate persons at city hall and finally landed at the city planning commissioner office. The commissioner conceded that I was correct and said I could go back downstairs and they would issue the vending city license (different from a PFR) I was seeking. Best wishes and don't give up!

Thanks for a very informative video. You printed the label after editing the design, we hear it print- but you never held it up to let your viewers see the printed label! I wanted to see the finished product and the label sheet you used. I assume its flat on a laser/ink jet? Does the 5-7 cents/ label include ink costs? Great info on costs compared to pre-printed from an out-of-house.

Hey Ricj thanks for letting me know I will be doing another printing video to address a bunch of questions about prinitng and will show the label. Mineis a Ink jet and our cost is about 5-7 cents with ink included, BUT the biggest factoe will be the size of label and material of the label. So ours is 5-7 some may be slightly more BUT ALSO you should not be paying over 30 cents for any label WAY TO PRICY

Great information. One question...Is there anything specific required on the food product label besides the name of the product. I noticed that you put the net weight. if you have the nutrition label on the back with all that information do you need the net weight on the food product label?

@@MarketingFoodOnline , I think there was a miscommunication here. I was excited and grateful to see your comment but disappointed in your otherwise great video because it didn't answer my question. Then I thought, maybe you saw LABOR and thought I meant LABEL? I really meant labor. If I spend two hours a week printing labels, where and how to you factor that into your label/packaging costs? Do you assign a labor rate to that and factor that into the costs to design/print them yourself?
