Thanks for the tour of your boat! I love trimarans. Is it true that the amas could be used as single births or would the occupant suffocate?
@sailingunleaded2 жыл бұрын
No problem! If temperatures are sleep-able you could leave the hatches open for some fresh air. We've had many friends stay over and they like just sleeping on the two benches (we forgot to mention they slide out about 6" for two single beds) or they sleep on the trampolines.

What is your boat speed with a 20 knot true wind broad reach (speed of boat likely brings you into an apparent wind close reach) in small to moderate seas?
@sailingunleaded Жыл бұрын
Hello! In those conditions we would be using our screacher and full main and go around 17-18 knots. This is pretty much ideal conditions: close reaching, no waves

Bumer. So many trailerable tris in my price range, but at 6'1", I'm out of luck.

Tom T (Contour owner). Where do you rig the jib halyard (dont see it on sheet stoppper). Also, was it hard to rig the outhaul to the deck stopper?
@sailingunleaded2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom! The jib halyard is run to a block on the base of the mast. It makes it a little harder to adjust quickly but it can be run to the winch on top of the cabin.
@sailingunleaded2 жыл бұрын
We added a clutch on the side of the mast and an exit for the jib halyard. While cruising, we don't really adjust jib halyard tension so the halyard is bundled out of the way at the mast. While racing, we run it back through a block and throw it down the companionway in case we want to adjust tension.

What would you consider the “Goldilocks” zone for wind speed & “set the autopilot & relax” cruising speed for your trimaran?
@sailingunleaded2 жыл бұрын
With the two of us, we very often set the autopilot and find that it's relaxing (wave and wind direction dependent) up to 15 knots.

I own a 30 ft Condor trimaran. It is trailerable. Bought her in San Carlos, Sonora, Mx for about 22K. If it is not too personal how much did the Contour cost? Is she trailerable? How tall is your mast? Lovely boat....a little envious of all the extra room you have....smile
@sailingunleaded2 жыл бұрын
Hello Alan, sounds like you got a good deal on your boat! The contour 34 is trailerable, however it is a lot more work to go from the trailer to the water as the marketing brochures suggested... It's realistically 1.5 days of work from road worthy to sail ready. This is still amazing as it allows to go from Michigan to Florida in 5 days factoring the disassembly time, driving time and assembly time. The mast is 47 feet long, the bridge clearance is 53 feet. It is a big mast to raise ourselves, but we've done it. The Contour 34 seem to sell somewhere between 110k to 130k, but we got ours for a steel since it had been on the hard for 10 years, parts were scattered between 2 marina yards and a storage unit. In the end, it was missing quite a few key components that we had to design and get manufactured: bowsprit, trampoline, screacher, cockpit railing, motor mount, etc It was quite an adventure, but we love a good project and challenges! Enjoy your boat and fair winds!

@@sailingunleaded Thanks for replying. I see your boat is for sale now. That is a little bit of a surprise. I like your boat. You have so many more extra nice features than I do. You almost have to be an Olympic gymnast to get between the main cabin...past the centerboard and into the forward cabin. I also like rotating masts. The only advantage I see in my boat is the sleeping arrangements are better. My Condor has basically wings and port/starboard sleeping areas are almost full size but quite a bit less than queen. Wish you the best...

Nice boat for a couple. Basic comfort and probably sppedy. Terrible "food" though, lol (if you could call those things like so).
@sailingunleaded2 жыл бұрын
Hey Francisco, thanks for your comment! As you can imagine we don't only eat chips on the boat. We are always opened to suggestions though for meal ideas aboard! I'm wondering, what is your go to food on your boat?
@FXPL92772 жыл бұрын
@@sailingunleaded My food choices will depend on the time aboard and the refrigeration. But I try to load as much long lasting vegetables as possible (spinach, apples, limes, tomatoes, etc.), lots of boxed grains and frozean meats and frozen breads (I'd like to try to bake them). Of course some trash food is also welcome for a quick snack.
