a few questions if I may: 1. Best contra game in years? seems that way... 2. what capture software and/or hardware are you using? Can't think of any other questions for now. I personally run my VCS with Peppermint OS 11 Devuan 64-bit (earlier build not current since the new team made it uglier). I maxed out the Ram to 32GB DDR4-2400 Gskill and use a 2TB Samsung T7 NVME external for PC mode (I discovered it is faster than the theoretical max an internal M.2 drive could provide based on my initial benchmarking). In hindsight, I think going with ddr4-3200 might have been better but would require a small overclock in settings and I didn't want to endanger my VCS b/c it took me about a year after purchase to finally unlock the dreaded Password as none of the bios flashing worked for me despite heavy correspondence with Atari during that time. I am weirdly curious of pairing an external gpu via the pcie 3.0 slot (wifi slot) as I don't use the wifi anyway and play hardwired when I'm online. I have designated 16GB of VRAM for gaming even though it seems this APU (or most APU's in general reportedly don't benefit from anything beyond 4-8 GB of VRAM being designated.

1. This feels like Contra. I don't know if that makes it the best entry in years, but it's definitely a love letter to the original. 2. I have an AverMedia Live Gamer 2 Plus Portable in my setup for game capture.

So ,is the PC mode like running D.O.S games ???. And why can't they be released on standard vcs800 ???.

Not DOS, but Windows games using Proton - which is a fork of Wine that is baked into ChimeraOS. Since the VCS is really just a x86 PC you can load virtually any OS on it if you want, either through a bootable USB, external or internal SSD. Can't be released directly to VCS store since AtariOS is Linux-based and doesn't have Proton/Wine. Also, the publishers would need to want to do bring the games to the VCS.
