Everyday, I get to watch this Tower being assembled piece-by-piece. Watching your video could give me the real blueprint of the PNB 118 Tower.

Hows the tower coming now?? Thanks for the comment!

Awesome bruhh, I think when PNB 118 already complete by the year 2021, it will gonna be the most beautiful glassy megatall. The shape of PNB 118 so magnificent...

Everyday i passed this tower, I wonder how the architect design the building. To many shape. And now i know 🤓 after watching this video. Thank you for the video.

Nice! That's awesome you're so close, hope all is well over there. Yes the shape looks super complex at first glance but after a little bit of analysis...it still feels complex:) but slightly less so

I think you can build the spire with a column. The new column and beam tools introduced in ArchiCAD 23 are awesome. I've been using them a lot lately to build all sorts of things with them.
@CONTRABIM4 жыл бұрын
Marian Sdraila yes I’m sure the new column could handle that spire very well! I think I was just on a roll with morphs by the time I got there!
@mariansdraila4 жыл бұрын
@@CONTRABIM It's probably easier to build with morphs! But if you use the column it might be easier to edit at a later time.
@CONTRABIM4 жыл бұрын
@@mariansdraila Yes I played with a square column real quick, pretty easy to get the general shape. Adding in the extra bulges at the intersections I'd have to mix in a complex profile with some profile modifiers which gets a bit more complicated. Something I'll come back to:) Thanks for the suggestion as always!

Just wondering: Did you think of doing the whole modelling almost exact same way as you did, but using the curtain wall tool instead of morph?
@CONTRABIM4 жыл бұрын
Karoly Horvath hi yes I considered doing with curtain walls, but wanted to keep the model as light as possible during this first pass. Was a little worried the extra geometry would slow it down at the time. I’m going to do another vid talking curtainwalls, takeoffs and estimating on the skin, it seems Archicad is handling this size facade with the curtain wall tool just fine, as long as you break up the faces into manageable pieces. Thanks for the question!
@hkrna4 жыл бұрын
@@CONTRABIM don't you worry about what ARCHICAD can handle at this stage. I am working on similar scale projects. The model is typically OK. It only slows down when you are adding loads of 2D, Annotation, Layouts, Sections, Elevations, modules (in this order) When I say loads of them, then I mean construction documentation level.
@CONTRABIM4 жыл бұрын
I did find that there's a certain point where the curtain wall tool just maxes out. I was curious to see if an entire face of an elevation could be drawn with a single curtain wall, and it totally bogged down and took forever to generate. Smaller sections works fine though even when loading up the equivalent to one large one.
@hkrna4 жыл бұрын
On projects this kind eventually the facade will have to be modelled using the curtain wall tool. It is my experience too that breaking it down to smaller segments works better. Also, it is very likely that the facade would live in a separate file for documentation and would be moduled into other project files.

nice. would be interesting, if grasshopper or maybe new modelo tool could help build steel facade skeleton from morph mesh etc. also, what archicad desperately needs, is right click to make any basic element (wall, roof, column etc) from morph. so, not just one way thing..

Hi. If I had to choose between Revit, or Architcad - Archicad would be on top, due to how you manipulate 3D forms, rather than extruded 2D geometry. It is also a more complete system, as to loading separate structural, or architectural templates. With 24 bringing the MEP as standard, this is a very powerful tool indeed. My question: what's the best way to integrate existing 2D AutoCad drawings? This has been the biggest hurdle in the passed and I'm about to start a new job, introducing BIM and no doubt, will be pushing Archicad, but they have an existing AutoCad based 2D system. I have used AutoCad elements to build complex profiles and as trase plans, but I haven't found a way to recognise text. Is there anything I have missed?
@CONTRABIM4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray. Thanks for the comment! In my experience, I always prefer importing 2D Autocad drawings using the drawing tool in Archicad, verse attaching as xref. I feel like it's easier to manage and control that way, verse importing a ton of new layers to deal with. As a drawing in Archicad, it still will update to the source file, and you can control layers within the drawing tool. You can also control the pens as a drawing. If you're missing text (.SHX files), I believe if you export your DWG as a package where it produces those associated files, you can drop them all in a folder and reference them in when Archicad asks for the missing files. Sometimes when you have a bunch of references in Autocad all linked together, it can create a bit more issue when linking into Archicad. Having a nice clean DWG with everything embedded can help resolve missing references. Hope this helps!
@miyahollands61364 жыл бұрын
@@CONTRABIM Yes, this helps. The one thing I am trying to avoid is a lot of redrawing. But, then - they are using a system that is a mixture of both 2D AutoCad and manully produced on a drawing board. So, some redrawing will be inevitable! Getting Archicad to recognise text created in AutoCad has been my biggest problem. But, 100% totally agree with the layers. That's why I am first planning to streamline their layer structure, adjusting it to match a future Archicad setup 😉 this way tons of unwanted layers can be avoided
@CONTRABIM4 жыл бұрын
@@miyahollands6136 That's the nice thing about placing imported DWGs as "Drawings". It can be on a single layer within Archicad, but with control to turn on and off "embedded layers" within. That way in Archicad you can have your own layer structure that doesn't necessarily have to match that of the Autocad file. I'll have to do a video to present what I'm talking about:) Thanks!

@@CONTRABIM Sure, a video would be great - thanks for your information!

Absolutely agree. Avoid bringing in native AutoCAD attributes! If you use the Drawing Tool to place dwg, the dwg can still be updated externally in AutoCAD or you can manipulate the dwg in a separate ARCHICAD and update the drawing in the host file. (I normally do it in ARCHICAD, we no longer have autocad installed on any PC)
