You're welcome :) I have once started building EHRD; the screenshots are probably somewhere on the FlightGear forums. I kind of stopped working on that project though, but maybe I'll pick it up again some day.

I know Blender is an awesome piece of software AND is open source as well. But the fact that it's also open source doesn't mean it should be the only program used or promoted. I found Google Sketchup an amazingly simple tool for modeling airport objects and buildings. Much more accessible for users who haven't even modeled anything yet. I would recommend people to start using Blender once they got used to the basics of modeling. Blender is amazing.

Exactly what I started researching today. I'm going to contribute on the landscape around Kristiansand as it is a bit too simplistic at the moment.

Got as far as downloading QGIS, connected it to OSM.org through a plugin and traced a few islands outside Kristiansand. Now I've hit a wall, though. Can't build Terragear or download the Windows build... are anyone able to download it ATM?

Talking about creating 3D objects ... You should have presented Blender which is also open source software (and the most famous!), instead of that broken mind & future world-dominator-monopole Google Sketchup software!
