It's interesting to come back to this after Alan Wake 2. Here, Alan's hair is longer than it was in Alan Wake 1, but not as long in the sequel. Also Zane completely mirrors Alan here where in Alan Wake 2 he started to take on his own appearance. So, with every loop there is a sense that Zane keeps pushing Alan to change more and more. Change the reality of the Dark Place, but also the reality of Wake himself.

This could also be Mr. Scratch pretending. That's my theory at least.

It's not a loop. It's a spiral
@kalebb71705 ай бұрын
@@greekjohn1998*Spoilers* Scratch is Alan is Zane is Scratch. We were explicitly told that scratch is Alan when possessed by the dark presence, and ever since Alan Wake 1 a bunch of characters have referred to Alan as "Tom", and Alan and Zane had basically the exact same thing happen to them. They're the same.

The conversation is almost the same when Alan meets Zane in AW2

fun fact, how jesse describes Alan afterwards depends on whether you’ve read files on him or not
@LSK2K10 ай бұрын
I think this was also in one of Alan's failed attempts. In the sequel he meets Zane and the dialogue is almost exactly like this. Not as obscure and vague as this one but still.
@MrGruntful10 ай бұрын
Maybe one of the many hundred attempts to write an escape. Zane mentions that he would deal with Scratch but not in AW2's scene.
@lentinant10 ай бұрын
Don't forget about "spiral". Sometimes what Alan or others do becomes the reason for events that already happened. AWE alarm in Eldest House was received few years in the past, while we now know it actually happens in 2023. Jesse might in fact look into the future in this moment. This might be why we see her in this cutscene in Alan Wake 2.
@marcane612210 ай бұрын
Great theory. I think at times it's more clear than the scene in AW2. I was confused if Zane was a poet or film maker but now it's clear with this scene.
@Axel179010 ай бұрын
Also should note that Esteves says the Oldest House is “in the dark” at the moment in AW2 so the two events could be happening at the same time. No a door to the Future. But happening simultaneously, Since we know time in the Oldest House is kinda weird, Like how post game control you go and clear a few hiss out, and Dylan already grows a full head of hair and beard is that short amount of time.

I think this conversation was early in the spiral/loop because the dialogue is almost the exact same as in AW2, very interesting stuff.

And that's the way how Jesse perceive the conversation what we see in Alan Wake 2, nice.

Alan's lookin' rough. 10 years in the dark world, can't imagine what all he's been going through in that place. He's been writing for 10 years, and it seems, he's close, very close to breaking out.
@LSK2K10 ай бұрын
A beginning. A primordial forest. The colors of the fall. The mist. A caldera lake. Silence echoes, loud, it's too late to hear the words. The man, naked, crawls to the shore. Like a birth? To say that would be a lie. Nothing like a birth, the opposite. He staggers to his feet. A carcass of a deer lies on the shore rotting amidst drift wood. The man is afraid, beside himself. Who is he? He doesn't himself know. Dark waves have washed it away.

@@LovecraftianToenailThank you, but I can't take credit for something I did not write. That was Sam Lake himself. He basically spoiled the beginning of Alan Wake 2 but it was so cryptic that all we can do is simply speculate. I did however write something, a description of Alan trying to escape the dark presence hunting for him in the subways. I think you'd like it.
