Much of sound of perseverance was supposed to be the first control denied album but the record company insisted on one more Death album with Chucks vocals and then would support a control denied album, there's quite a bit of story behind all this from the drummer being a howard stern regular, to Steve Digiorgio making Chuck a promise that this album would only be released if it was up to the high standards that chuck set for death, which when he played pieces of it for chuck over the phone while he was in the hospital, that steve said it brought him to tears. Just some really deep emotional stuff, theres also tracks for the second album but steve and gene hoagland have attempted to bring it to those high standards but to no avail which im going to assume just not enough good tracks from chuck to finish. This is my favorite album btw from chuck, its ridiculously great

Chuck started a band called Mantus way back in the early 80's....Him, Rick Rozz, and Kam Lee on vocals ( I believe that those guys were the original 3). Then, later renamed the band Death after what would become a normal thing for Chuck to do, line up changes!!!! As far as actually creating death metal as we know it to be today, I would say, that necessarily wasnt the case. Death was way more "thrash" oriented with their music, especially in the early years. Maybe with each album, they took on more death metal elements, but there were other bands that may or may not of come out earlier. Possessed, even the very first Morbid Angel album, before Dave and Pete were in the band. I would say, that they were all part of something big though...

@@johnmcdonald789 not necessarily in their earlier years. Definitely in the later albums I'll agree with you. Yes, Chuck was a huge Watchtower fan, and you.could most definitely hear those influences on later releases.

consumed was composed in 99, chuck stopped doing vocals on 1999 and then started tym, so... i dont think that there is a demo of consumed with chuck on vocals, only tym.🙄
