The sign of a well written piece of music is that it transfers well between any medium / instrument, and genres. Chuck Schuldiner was among those genius songwriters

Guitar and piano are absolutely compatible, nothing special here, but Chuck was a genius for sure.

So if that beautiful choral piece loses something when transferred to kalimba, does that mean it's not well-written? I think the criteria is that a well-written piece of music sounds good on whatever instrument(s) it was written for and everything else is a bonus.

I sometimes hear that the brilliant classical compositors -- Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Paganini, Vivaldi, Wagner, and so on -- wrote music what would be the heavy metal of their times, just with the instruments that were available before electricity. Videos like this one prove this point in an astonishing way.

Really paints the song in a different light. There are a lot of different moods coming out and there's a lot of interesting contrasts between really open sections, kind of mystical sounding asides that break in, and more technical parts that punch hard. I really enjoyed this!
