The cable idea is dope 💡 I'm gonna try it. I just finished making my chute blocker. Now I'm figuring a control arm for a walk behind. This 5ft cable should be long enough and the fact that it locks in key, no need for springs.

No you don't need the spring, just for looks. However I did upgrade my throttle control to a heavy duty which works perfect. You can check out my other videos to see it in action....thanks for watching

I was wondering if there was any particular reason you riveted the L brackets to the outside of the sheet metal chute blocker. Would mounting them on the inside hinder the operation of the chute?

I used the L bracket because it is more sturdy bolted on. It held up great with no issues, the only thing I had to change was the throttle cable to a more heavy duty which makes everything perfect. Not sure if you say the other video with that new cable.

How do you account for the deck going up and down? Just let the handle get displaced higher?

The pully is just to guide the cable the hardware I baught from home Depot.
