I think the NSC-01 ending up in the same place where the Jukebox transports people ("the Formation") is just a coincidence. There are multiple mentions in the game about the Formation pulling in all sorts of things. The Jukebox casefile has this to say: "When this object is used *in* *the* *Oldest* *House* , it only transports users to an area located in the recently-manifested Quarry Threshold. Researchers theorize that this site's unique spatial density results in all transitioning material gravitating to its position, as has been observed with other Bureau equipment." Another document states that originally the Jukebox transported people onto a tropical beach. I think it's still trying to transport people there, but when it's inside the Oldest House, it's affected by the Formation's pull. Also, I don't think anyone intended for the NSC-01 to end up at the Formation specifically. It's just that when Northmoor's power started translocating it, it got caught up in the Formation's pull.

In the foundation DLC, Dr. Ash mentions that the FBC has fallen victim to a "parasite," I think in reference to the board. In that DLC we get to see that the board deliberately sets up situations to deify themselves (the cave paintings of the board are not ancient, they were put in the caves after the scientists arrived) and also to cause tension that reinforces the board's power. Like letting the nail become corrupted so they could guide jesse to fix it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Other is a different faction just going off of the will of the board, causing insurrection to make the board seem more significant/necessary to the FBC.

Didn't even take time to consider if the "Other" actually meant something - but as per usual, Remedy doesn't throw out random loose ends. This was a great and interesting watch! I'm thinking that the "Other" is just their word for the Astral Plane, and it has stronger connections to Altered Items and O.o.Ps than we originally thought. Here's a stretch: The Board is an Altered Item - perhaps as well as Altered Entities - that were caused when a group/object went unexpectedly into the plane, and perhaps the residence thought, as many voyagers into unknown lands, "We control this place". Through that subconscious thought, they grew to control the place, in which the place controlled much more than the plane.

This video throws up so many questions Is Fra an alien or something else? Is the slide-projector perhaps linked to dylan or even jesse? How is the ashtray still linked to Trench, even though he is dead or at least "gone"? I also think that chester bless is a pseudonym and that he/she has perhaps some sort of connection to the FBC, given the amount of secrecy and infighting it displayed in the past. There are a lot of places this universe could go to. As always, nice work.

I'd we refer back to the Altered Item video, I believe that the agent who took Altered materials home and accidentally created the rubber duck may be linked to paracriminals in some way. There are absolutely moles within the FBC. I swear though, I don't think we will ever finish finding new places to explore in this game. So many threads to pull on.

should the sequel take place outside the Oldest House, thus no Control Points, I see the Slide Projector being used as a fast-travel/safe haven tool. perhaps a similar mechanic to what's in Alan Wake 2, like Saga Anderson's Mind Place. but who knows, given the significance of that item anything is possible.

In the AWE expansion, there is a side quest called 'Gerbil Took The Top Head" where an individual who doesn't make any sense is locked in one of those Safe Haven rooms and he's looking for a 'head' which turns out to be a Space Helmet. IDK if that has anything to do with The Other, but when I was reading what was on the white board--I'm wondering if that little side quest/person/what-have-you is connected as well? Or if I'm just looking too closely at a silly little side quest.

Another amazing work, thank you :) Regarding the board/other, I'm thinking that in most cases, the two words that are like this (x/y) are not the same. They have the same meanings from Jesses or boards point of view, but they are also different. I mean the others and the board might look the same to the board, but they are different. If I remember it correctly, the story between the former and the board had shown us that maybe we shouldn't trust any of them and keep our guard up in front of both of them. Maybe this is another thing that the board is hiding from us and doesn't want us to know 🤔

I'd have to go back to Foundation documents. As far as I remember The Board only informed Northmoor that others exist so he made it his duty to find and bind them all. Containment was secondary. Again this video is largely speculation but because of the situation with the NSC-01, I wonder I'd the Blessed Organization is linked to Northmoor? The translocation could be about saving him? No clue.

However, I think if the Blessed organization was doing something that the board doesn't like, it would have informed the FBC head at the time to do something about it. Like when the astral plane was bleeding into our world. Really I don't know the intentions of the board and this is complicating things.

Holders/665 Other/Blessing Reins/Law. The first thing that stuck out to me was the number 665. In one of Darling's presentations, Emily Pope asks for a password, and he says something along the lines of "665; neighbor of the beast." This is probably a colloquialism referring to the number that comes after; 666; which is believed to be a symbol of the devil. The next was the contradiction between Other/Blessing and Reins/Law. Reins are devices that allow people to drive and discipline horses; a way to control something born of nature. The implications of the statement Reins/law in this context is that the board controls (Reins) the natural order (Law), and that the Other/Blessing is antithetical to that system. I wonder if that means that the Other is chaos and the Blessings are what can be made from that chaos. The Board institutes their control over the reality we experience through the act of linking para-natural energies to altered items and objects of power, but what if they can only utilize the energies they can understand, and what remains is this Other? unknowable energies that can't be controlled? if that were true, that would mean that entities like The Board and The Former are 'middle men'; conduits for these energies and not their progenitors. The whiteboard also refers to the proximity and effects of this Other as rippling and warping. Both phenomena can be attributed to the expression of vibrational frequencies which is said to be the cause of thresholds in the FBC. What if the Other is the excess energies created by dimensional friction? when the frequencies of two dimensions grate against each other instead of aligning to create a superposition state( doorway between the two)? Furthermore, you postulated that the slide projector may be bound to someone already. What if it is bound to Mr. Door? You made a video about the shifters from Quantum Break, and how Martin Hatch was an anomaly, for his ability to maintain his human form, as well as his mental faculties are somewhat unprecedented among shifters. what if that is because he is bound to the slide projector and it allows him to organize all the different versions of himself. If the slide projector can create stable doorways to other dimensions for as long as it is active, then It could be what allows him to stabilize the other versions of himself in those alternate dimensions and timelines.

A different line of thought for your theory making... all the objects of power used in your example, come in TWO (or more) pieces, and without a combination the OOP effect does not exist (presumably, there's no documentation on attempting to remove and replace the Record in the Jukebox with another store bought record). Now the surf board would seem to go against that, but at the same time these multi-part OOPs seem to be inordinately stronger then the surf board, and as you noted, it's purpose may be more to Empower "The Board" then the user. From AWE, there's the Train Car, arguably more powerful then the Surfboard, Jesse ended up anthropomorphizing it a bit as she ran through it's trauma (The incident that lead to the crash and it becoming an Altered Item). The Car was "oddly undamaged" and it's interior remains as it was on that day, the actual "power" being touching items plays a snippet of the audio of the events of that day, again a relatively "weak" power for such a large AI and large loss of life. This actually has little to do with "The Other", but are some thoughts on OOPs an AIs in Control. Honestly, the only OOP/AI that bucks this trend, is Wake's "Clicker".

Honestly, it would not surprise me that the Clicker became Altered. Cauldron Lake is an opening to another Threshold and Altered Materials like shaded facets are probably plentiful. His own unflattering belief in it would be the 'Cosnciousness' ingredient. Or simply the story said it was altered so it was. Either way I don't recall if they tried to remove the Record. I do know that darling experimented with the slide projector being a two part OoP.

Darling was on the cusp of what he believed to be the truth, the greatest discovery, something that would change his life forever, and to feel like it was all for nought, that's heavy. For another theory, is it possible that Darling is bound to an OOP, his final log is something I'd like to see you do a video on, something took a hold of his mind, some divine purpose, like he was about to transcend mortality. It wasn't the Hiss, so what was it? Did he get bound to the Projector? To the Board itself?

I have no clue. We barely get anything about Fra other than its presence caused the memory manipulation and some form of energy is animating it. I'm assuming it took the form of a space suit because that it what it first encountered and assumed humans were. Like Ford in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy thoughts cars were the dominant life form on Earth and tried to shake ones hand.

We know that modern technology is banned because the Oldest House throws a wobbler over it but beyond simply being a reaction to not being allowed modern technology, do you think all the old technology the FBC uses helps ground the Oldest House? Perhaps because that technology is stable and no longer subject to change in the public psyche, such archetypal ideas are a ritualistic way to counter the House's shifting? Like we build our world out of solid, fixed bricks rather than trying to build walls from melting, reforming ice, so does the Board build their world out of solid fixed ideas. In that vein could the Hiss be making the house shift more because the usual (or what passes for it in the Oldest House) has changed and become uncertain? I've been cajoling my friend to play the Remedyverse and after a very long time it feels, we finally caught up to Control last night and my mind is going to be full of questions I can't discuss with him until he's finished.

Northmoor could be part of The Blessed organization due to how much he was with the Board. He basically hated anyone who disrespected the Board. And he loved power. He seemed to become more corrupt overtime, and due to his powers being connected to the Board, they could've been the reason that he lost control of them. He may have had some connection with blessed, but when he "agreed" to keep the lights on, this may show that he changed at one point and may have renounced blessed, so the board made him lose control. I think this is why he agreed to be contained. He left blessed and the board didnt want him to be a threat. Or he is still part of blessed and him "losing control" is just an act so that he could become the house's only power source and can leave it completely powerless at the right time.

I know PE stands for "possessed equipment" but what does the others mean. I couldn’t help but think that the link between the Jukebox transporting people to the Quarry and the NSC-01 ending up there is undeniably interesting. It just may be that the Jukebox is bound to Northmoor. Another thing that bugs me is that Objects of Power are-in almost all cases-connected to the Astral Plane. Ash “theorized that Altered Items become Objects of Power when the Board establishes a connection to them through the Astral Plane.” When it came to Former, it had modified certain Altered Items that took individuals to a different place that only resembled the Astral Plane. The fact that the Jukebox, also considered an Object of Power and created by a group other than the Board, takes individuals in its vicinity to the Quarry, not the Astral Plane. Also, if we assume that the “Other,” as mentioned by the Board, refers to the Pyramid, does “others” in “A Song for the Others” mean that is is a song for other entities such as the Board, represented by the Pyramid? Fantastic work, as per always.

You're asking all the right questions. And I honestly could not say one way or another. In terms of the Song for the Others I'm assuming it is related to the Board. The thing with the jukebox Is at the diner it translated to a beach. So it wasn't designed specifically for the formstion. Just because the Formation draws things to it, the jukebox took them there possibly. Could be shear coincidence.

I know i'm pretty late for this discussion since I just recently completed this game. But i guess better late than never. My thoughts on the other is that before they latched on to the fbc as the board they were the 'divine influence' as Northmoor calls it, that served as the head of the blessed group. The board being notorious for projecting themselves as a higher power, they probably did the same thing to the blessed group before as they seem as fanatical as Northmoor became after the board influenced him. As for the mole in fbc no one is more suspicious than langston as he is the only one in fbc who has a differing view on altered items which borders on almost a reverence for them and as he is incharge of the panopticon, it makes him the perfect candidate for the blessed group's machinations in the fbc. That's probably why he was so interested in jesse cleansing the investigation section so he could get his hands on the imprisoned astronaut. He is probably far more intelligent and cunning than he lets on & his stupid act shields him from any kind of scrutiny.

665 is the number of the room in which Thomas Zane is in, in Alan Wake 2. Zane says that "they are looking for me" in that scene, probably refering to the FBC. Calling Zane "the Other" also makes sense, as he is "the other writer" in Alan Wake (if you consider a poet as a writer AND the fact that remedy loves puns). There's also a theory that Zane wrote Alan himself in the story before Alan became the writer, so Zane could be the source of it all. What makes more sense to me is the Other being a "force" or "effect" that can be placed in something. And if so, maybe Zane was the one who "created" or this force through his writing or the "holder" of it. The Board says that Objects of Power are the Holders/665 to the Other/Blessing. Which infers that room 665 is a holder for Zane/his powers. Guess we'll have to wait and see if The Lakehouse DLC sheds some light on this.

This is right alongside of my thoughts. The more OOP that get created means more slip between that world/Rhelm and ours. I feel like the Blessed Group/Family is either directly controlled or Influenced by the Other(s). We still don't yet know who the Good or the bad are. ( Board vs Other(s) ). The times we see the other, it may even be different entities. I feel that this link Will carry over into other Rememdyverse games and give more back story into the universe, especially into Alan Wake's sptory and past.

Out of simple curiosity, I wonder if the allegory to the golden helmets could be the story of how the Remedyverse was made in the most literal sense. Like, there used to be a base reality, and when it tapped into its equivalent of a non-Aristotelian force, it broke just as described in the story, but also into multiple separate realities? That could also be why most of the planes across the Remedyverse seem to fall into the same pattern as that hypothetical base reality- an era of normalcy and progress, ended in an instant and replaced with one of uncertainty and chaos, as if the hairline fractures from the base reality are still tracing their way across its own shattered pieces. Probably not even viable as far as the lore is concerned, but just my two cents. At the very least I think it could be thematically relevant. Btw, do we think that Ahti is opposed to the Board in any sense? Just out of curiousity, I didn't really get a read on their dynamic if it exists.

The Other, seems heavily implied to be a nomenclature of the Astral Plane and it's dimensional-multitude and reality switchboard paranatural nature, and/or the entities that inhabit that plane. Why have two synonyms, when one word will do. Seems to be intentional for a group of entities that consistently struggle to translate hyperreal concepts and want to associate the entirety of the astral plane with themselves. Concerning the evidence you presented for the Blessed Organization, really does points to them having a connection or contact with The Board. In creating OOPs, AWEs, and being a parallel paranatural organization in the Remedyverse. Not sure to what end, but my pet theory is that The Board never really had to deal with a organized incursion inside the Oldest House. With their nail in the foundation being a leech/feeding straw on the energy of all the collective realities in a more direct fashion, rather than relying on the collective unconscious of sentient species in the multiverse, they didn't have too much to worry about beforehand. Sure thresholds exist in the oldest house and things wondered in and out, but now with humanity and in particular the FBC trying make a permanent presence, maybe they were befuddled and unsure to process in Dr. Ash times in Foundation DLC. But after realizing they could be a boon or a threat they seek to limit access to the foundation and now they can shape the collective unconscious even more directly by guiding/manipulating the minds of the sentient things in these realities. Your theory and point of having unconscious worship and now the new normal is "weird", it all self-reinforces the entities of the Others. By having more organizations out and about with OOPs, AWEs, rituals to worship strength The Board. I also think they understand they kind of need somebody to protect the Oldest House/Nail, or at least some parautilitarians, after the Hiss and Marshall. Even they don't want to say it to out loud. However with Polaris resonance now in their pockets that might change, and they might do a power play down the line to remove any "unwanted guests" and force a more directly worship by altering the collective unconscious a la The Hiss. Might be another conversation, but seems to imply once a OOP is Binding/Blessing is bestowed, they can't remove it? They threatened Jesse in Foundation DLC after the former granted abilities, but they seems not be able to de-couple anything previously granted or really do much other than send some astral spikes and Ids at this time. Sidenote: I do believe however, that Ahti treats The Board the same as the mold, clog and furnace though. Just another parasite or pest in the Oldest House, but they help with the chores indirectly so they get to stay while the master is out and this is his new gig.

An easy way to test the theory of whether the "power of the board" movement and The Board share titles in languages where those words aren't homonyms. If there is a localization in which the names are changed to keep this correlation it would be pretty solid proof of a connection between Bless and The Board.

I'm personally lending toward the oldest house being a prison for the former(s). The blessed organization might want to manipulate power while whatever this other is, if its not the discarded formers name or something, could be the thing that wants to break out the altered items and former borad member. (In the american nightmare game, you see alan uses a projector. It could have been the same one.) But the only reason I added darling is because in alan wake, remember when he gets the cellphone and someone is talking to him. (Or in the mirror in the diner) Could the person have been darling. If you read back into darlings investigation, it sounds like darling did something with a potential object of power. Maybe he tried to bound myself to the object. But what happens if say a non director cant Bind an item? Or is there honestly a rule at all about a non director binding an item.

For what i understand "the other" is usually interchangable with "the power" as in the power you get by binding an object of power; we often see OOP with some sort of personality or will so they migh be referring to the Other side/personality/soul of the binding, the one giving th object and binder the powers. That would make the helmet as the first object of power, whose power might have been somethink like to see those almost concious concentration of psyche; that power would give the wearer the insight needed to replicate the process (maybe binding more than one object to a single Other??) And with more time and knowledge those men in golden helmet might find ways to create OOP, giving Blessings to objects (maybe using the bad things to help the oop creation, or the object themselves would bring the bad things). This could be the difference between OOP and AWE, as not always the Other would be that level of semi-consciousness needed to bind it and just be unconcious (like the projector) or maybe "feral" (frostqueen?....The bad fridge) Anyway, incredible work as always 👌 between work and timezones i always miss your streams but maybe one day i might be able to pass by 😀

Something I have always found interesting is that the Board actually failed at properly describing what Objects of Power are and gave up in the end. The full message was: < Objects of Power are Holders/665 > < to the Other/Blessing > < We hold the reins/law > < We are failing in translating hyperreal concepts > < Secrets/Instructions will be lost > < Ignore this message > This might indicate that the Board itself might not have the capacity to understand certain concepts and is trying to impose its will on things it also doesn't quite fully grasp. I'm not sure the surfboard is directly related The Board, as I think the meaning behind the word would be most important part to the collective consciousness. I believe the case file for the Jukebox directly speculates that the it is a property of the Formation itself that causes things to be drawn toward it. My theory is that The Board has their own motives "holding the rein/law" to the Other that happens align with the FBC's goal of not letting altered items run amok, while The Blessed Organization are some sort of paranatural anarchists that want to bring the Other completely to our world.

I don't know that I would automatically equivocate the Board to the Other. I think the Other, Pyramid, and Blessing could be used that way. Instead, I think it's interesting that the Board says they are broadcasting from the pyramid/other. That makes me think it's a place. The whiteboard further describes the Other as a place. Chester Blessed could be interpreted literally as someone given the Blessing discussed earlier.

Here's my take. If The Board is a collective of entities (speaking to us through the black Piramid) i'm gonna go ahead and presume that The Former was once part of this collective. But what if The Other, was another of the collective that the rest of The Board split up to use as a tool/slave. Since we know the species of The Board/ The Former can mess with OoPs, it's possible that The Board might be using one of their own (The Other) to either create, or alter OoPs for any given reason.

Still don't necessarily agree with the idea at 4:25 because I don't think The Board is the entity's actual name. It's just the function it performs within the FBC organization. FBC knows so little about it that they just refer to it by the only piece of concrete information they have, which is its role in relation to them. If it was known to someone else outside of the FBC organization that person would have have no reason to give it the same name. The significance of an event called "The Power of the Board" seems more likely a message directed at the FBC -- this Chester Bless person is saying "I know of this entity and I know enough about you to know your name for it." I do agree with the idea that the Blessed organization might be working on behalf of the same entity the FBC calls the Board and I have an idea of why the would have the two organizations working seemingly at cross-purposes. If the Board "feeds" on worship then I imagine its endgame would be to reach a point where it can get that "food" from as much of Earth's human population as possible. In order to do that, the population at large needs to become a lot more aware of the paranatural. If the Board is treating the human population basically as livestock to be farmed, then they've got two jobs they need to do. The first is to grow the livestock to the point where it can sustain the farmers. If this equates to a human population that knows of the paranatural, that lines up with the Blessed's activities -- sowing deadly supernatural chaos to create awareness and fear. The second job is to protect that livestock from other predators. The sort of supernatural chaos that the Board wants to use to "fatten" the population is the sort of chaos that can claim a lot of lives, and as far as we know the Board has no use for dead people. The FBC's role in this plan is to keep people alive for the Board to feed on as much as possible.

If you take the notion that the Former is one of the board who got kicked out and that the board had 666 members then that would mean that we know something about the board and it's alignment and also solidifies that the board thinks of itself as the "other". This would be 665 a number one short of 666. Theoretically the board minus one member, the former, is now 665 telling us something of their alignment. What this means as it is specifically associated with holders is a different question. Does that mean that the board has one member for each oop or does that mean that maybe working the other way instead of being one short of completion the number of oop will only be right when it gets one more, that somehow whatever the board thinks is appropriate needs 666 and they have instead 665

I will stick to my hypothesis that the Remedy universe was created by the events that are totally not those of Quantum Break, just a piece of background lore that just so happens to only be as sufficiently distinct from those as relevant IP laws in the EU and the US allow it to be. These altered objects "binding"/granting powers to individuals, it sounds a bunch like how QB's time powers start. First, let's point out a few things to reinforce that idea, before contextualizing them for the topic. Numero uno, in QB a way you could interpret the incident that gives Jack and co. powers is that the machine itself became an altered item, or perhaps a proto-altered item, with the more compact countermeasure thingy becoming the first proper altered item. Basically it is supposed to establize and contain the so called fracture, and reverse engineering it also allowed the creation of the chronon technologies, which are basically manipulate a certain type of ability individuals and the environment. So plenty similarity there. Second, the first thing Will tell's Jack once his powers first manifest is to speculate that the incide "altered your relation to blah blah blah". It is right there in QB's dialogue. Third, and starting to contextualize things now, in control people call these events Altered World Events, right? Altered, as in changed. What if after QB Jack and others finally find a way to change things, Alter the World in some ways that prevent the end of time to happen? How far back could they have gone? They've seen the end of time, could they also not have gone and seen the begining of time and tampered with it, which could explain the origin of all the parallel worlds here? Bonus, looks at all the similarities between the two. The glitching in control looks a lot like the stuff in QB. The way Jesse often does stuff with her hands to cleanse the hiss or bind with an object of power is very similar and has similar effects to how Jack seemingly activates the countermeasure with Will. Almost as if they were actually all sort of related powers, which they could be, since the stuff in QB basically manipulates spacetime, but has more visible effects just on time... but in control it could be just variations of it, manipulating and affecting both (you can basically explain all powers as manipulations of space and time. But again, let's go back to the topic. The board. In the end of QB, Hatch invites Jack to join this new Monarch, basically replacing Paul if I got it right. What do you call all these top level decision makers in a company? A board (of directors). What if the astral plane is what the lifeboat becomes after the end of time, after they all figure how to change things and do so, and those entities + the other are some IP law friendly version of some familiar faces, who lived too long to become the villain?

What if "The Other" is something(s) within the Black Rock Threshold/Dimension... • The Foundation can only be accessed (conventional travel-wise) through the Black Rock Quarry Dimension as that is where the door is and therefore the Nail can be accessed. • When Northmoor translocated, he appeared there. What if the Other is a group like the board, of which Chester Bless is one? The Other (The bless group) creates OoPs and AIs. The Board then controls them and makes laws around them. The Former is not a former member of the board, instead a former member of the Other, of the Blessed Organization. As they create AIs like the fridge.

feel like chester bless is tied to (or IS) the Former. like it was formerly part of The Board. but now is separate, and doing it's own thing. So in this way they could ALSO be tied to the Other. I think the other is just another name for the black pyramid, which is where the board operates from, i think the pyramid and the board are separate things, maybe the pyramid is like a "control room" for the astral plane. i also have 1 more theory why we can't understand the former the former and the board are two entities that have a comprehension level higher than ours, so they use another type of language to describe their own perception and experience of reality imagine humans communicating with dogs, we can teach dogs a few keywords that they will be able to relate to actions or objects, some dogs even create basic sentences, but as much as we try if the tell a dog a normal english sentence they will only learn a few keywords that are part of what we taught them. the difference between us and dogs is we already have a more complicated language and the difference in comprehension between us and the board/former is probably lower than us and dogs. That's why the board communicates with us in such a cryptic but also basic way, it's just my theory but i think that just like us and dogs they have someone who "studied" our communications and got a grip of it and tried to applyt their language to ours, resulting in whatever the fuck they're saying the former tho isn't part of the board, but we don't know how long ago it was exiled, i think it could've been before the arrival of the FBC in the oldest house, so the former didn't have a chance to interact with humans at all, or maybe it was expelled shortly after humans arrived. this lead it to only being able to communicate with us with its language which we can only partially understand, that's why we only understand the core meaning of what the former says to clarify, for language i don't mean a spoken language like human languages, i'm talking about a language as a translation of reality into concept, which is basically thoughts, the former is a higher being so its thinking is elevated and has characteristics that our brain cannot possibly understand because they are not physically part of us, but we still share those parts of thinking that are part of our level, so when parts of what the former says are obscurated it's because we can't comprehend them and the former doesn't know how to translate them for us so the former would be like a human telling a dog something like "catch this ball quickly bob" and the dog would understand "catch #### ball #### bob" the dog doesn't know what this and quickly are because dogs aren't capable of understanding those concepts but we don't know how dogs think so we can't create a way to communicate with them clearly instead the board would be a human who knows the dog's mental language well enough to create a "language" comprehensible enough for both of them, which would sound weird to both but would serve its purpose

Your stuff is always great and well researched, love to watch. However, why did you ignore what the board says next? What expands with pressure, or perhaps inflates at will, then is retracted to expand again? And if your old enough to remember, an instant real time image, before digital of course. The Other can reach and present at will, as "Bubblegum/ Polaroid". Because we are human we always think linear. What happened in Ordinary was not a random event of chance. How do you get Jesse, and her ability to adapt and develop her powers into the oldest house, after "Something's coming, an attack". Despite some misdirection, Dylan was only there to entice Jesse, at exactly the right time. That's given away when Ahti is expecting Jesse for the job interview. The story goes backward in time and forward. As I said, great stuff, but one more thing, how does Ahti read Jesse's mind? From the first encounter; Jesse: "... a friendly face." Ahti: "Better than no face at all". I promise you there is no gibberish, or inconsequential action or event.
