I bought a Yamaha MD-BT01 and installed the Korg BLE-MIDI app to my iPad Air and it works great with Forscore! The best trick to sync with the Helix is to use the Learn Controller feature of Forscore or Helix. I think it is most useful to use the Helix as the Master device in this setup instead of switching the presets from the tablet. It is faster to rearrange a setlist in the Helix while keeping the correct links to the charts in Forscore. I also use the Helix as a page turner with up/down buttons in command center. Again I used the "learn" function in forscore for that option. Thanks for the video, it was plenty useful and will certainly improve my live performances!

Hey Felix, thanks for the response! This is awesome to hear another workflow. It must be so satisfying navigating patches and watching your sheet music change. When you use the Helix as a pagetuner, which pedals do you assign? I haven't found a way that I'm happy with yet.
@felix-antoinelebel7553 жыл бұрын
@@randyrektor For now I have assigned the Scroll up to pedal 5 and Scroll down to pedal 11. I have set them so send CC commands on two seperate CC# with value to 127. For instance: Scroll up is Channel 8, CC# 87, Value 127; Scroll down is Channel 8, CC# 88, Value 127. The most time consuming about that is to copy paste the settings to all presets and snapshots. I am still experimenting with it. I haven't had a show yet with this setup.

OMG, finally someone explains where to find the information to put into a MIDI event. I may be over half a century in my age, but am only now beginning to look into MIDI communication for my Helix, Beat Buddy, and Boss VE-500. Learning this stuff on my own is enough to make a grown man cry, lol.

Yea so I have it narrowed down to waking too far away with my iPad from the dongle plugged into the helix on stage… OR closing (sleep) my iPad. One of those, but I haven’t been able to recreate it as of yet

Any update on the disconnect issue on the Yamaha MD-BT01? "Before I knock these I'm gonna give it a few more tests and see if I can figure out what I did wrong that caused it to do that and give you a bit more of an update later on".... I've looked at this wireless BT interface several times but I wanted to see if you had determined the source of your disconnect first.
@randyrektor3 жыл бұрын
I can’t be completely sure, but I think it’s because I locked my iPad and ForScore stopped communicating over Bluetooth. I actually haven’t been able to recreate it, so it may have been a one-time thing.
@smithophoto3 жыл бұрын
@@randyrektor Cool. Do you use this regularly and haven't experienced this issue since the first use? I use OnSong at my church and I have my helix connected to my iPad via USB to a camera connection kit. It works great but I'd like to get rid of the cable... Typically my iPad stays on a stand unlocked the entire time, but sometimes I do take it down to use a bible app on my iPad during the message and return for an "invitation song" at the end of the service, so I'm thinking I could have an issue there with it disconnecting. I do know that OnSong handles bluetooth midi directly in the app, so I don't think I'd need the yamaha app installed... because of this I'm thinking it may also handle reconnection more fluidly...

That’s interesting. I’d be curious to hear your experience. I’ve actually only used this 3 times last year (when we were able to make music with friends lol) and due to the circumstances I haven’t been logging much time playing. So far it hasn’t happened again but I know that’s not much in the way of testing.

This is an amazing video, I've been studying it trying to get my iPad Pro to talk to my Pod Go, and while I can get the program change to work with the camera adapter and I can see the light on the Yamaha UD-BT01 reacting when I push the button in ForScore, it won't initiate the actual program change. I also have a MD-BT01 changing an Eventide PitchFactor, that works. I even tried switching out the USB-B cable, but that wasn't it. Both show as connected using the midiMittr app. Both ForScore and the Pod Go are set to midi channel 4. and the Tx/Rx is set to ON. Any thoughts?
@randyrektor2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm interesting! If the signal is getting to the UD-BT01, it seems like it must be something downstream, likely in the PodGo. However, you may not be sending the correct signal, so it’s tough to know! I’d suggest checking out the PodGo manual under the midi receive. See if there’s anything we’re missing. Maybe it requires a certain combination? Sorry I’m not more help
@cattaylor22 жыл бұрын
@@randyrektor I'm not sure the Pod Go wants to play nice. I've swapped out the PitchFactor for the H9 (it should arrive today) since there are way fewer hoops to jump through and more effects. I may use the Pod Go for just basic sound/hardware and the H9 for the effects (electric violin) thus not needing the program change to the Pod Go. It's a challenge to find effects units that aren't so focussed on distortion. I was also having issues with the send/return so will try that again with the H9. Thanks for getting back to me.
@randyrektor2 жыл бұрын
I totally know what you mean about distortion being the main focus of a lot of these pedals, and I guess for good reason, but I’m in the same boat! I hope this works better for you!!
@cattaylor22 жыл бұрын
@@randyrektor I just got ForScore to send the program change to the H9! There's mapping that has to happen in the H9 app, but it worked! I have a Telemann Canon in my sheet music that I like to connect to a long delay so I can play both parts. (I usually play Celtic and rock stuff, but grew up playing classical). Now I can do it with my other pieces. I'm so jazzed! Side note: the H9 won't accept program change messages via bluetooth so I had to dig a USB B mini cable out of the closet, but it worked.

I connected ForScore to my HX stomp. Buttons for Program Changes work well. Now I want to create a button to switch on the tuner of the stomp. The manual says it should work with MIDI CC# 68. Is that possible by a ForScore button?
@randyrektor2 жыл бұрын
I think so but you’d have to add that button to every score. Doable though, just add a button, select MIDI and add those parameters (068/000/000/127) try that, if not the last one might be 000 or 001

Doesn't work with USB Lightning to USB on the helix, neither buttons nor metadata midi send messages to Helix. Also your video is not current, can't enter 001 only 1. That was a waste of $20. Should have stayed with ONsong - that was working just fine.
