Holy , abelton stopped reciving midi from my mpc . Been trying to figure it for a week. I opened that akai midi network program and it discovered some error and fixed it and now its all go. Was going insane, cheers 🍻 👍

Use the Push as a controller for instruments in the MPC. The 64 pads makes a big difference plus midi effects and m4l

@@GhettoStyles maybe not worth the punt for Push 3 to be used in that limited way. But I got a cheap push2 for next to nothing and put the MPC into Ableton as a plug-in when I have those instruments open, using the push 2 in the same way. MPE wouldn’t work with the MPC anyway so I’m good. But yeah, the midi effects within Ableton combined with the 64 pads and a better ‘pad perform’ than the MPC, it really is good for those instruments that we paid a lot of money for. The Digitakt seq is another killer for those instruments but that’s another story. Respect OG!

Yes you can. You will either have to export the programs or loops into Ableton or record it in later to mix it though. Or you can bring the Ableton files into the MPC. Going into Ableton is probably better though.

Yes this is connected through WIFI only with the MPC in STANDALONE.

It should work in just about any DAW. I know it works in Logic as I have tested it. I haven’t tested FL but in theory it should work.

That is actually a really good question. I have multiple MPCs but I have never thought to try that. I will say that I don't think so though because I don't think the Akai Network MIDI software will connect to more than one at a time. I will definitely check though.

@GhettoStyles actually In theory you should be able to so long as you have it linked to live. In ableton at the top left if a button that says link. Anything on that network will link to ableton over the wireless network. Performing musicians use link all the time on stage with ableton! So because you can link multiple computers with "link" I would think you should be able to do that because like I said it's supposed to work with all devices on the network.

It works on any MPC update past 2.7 but I was using the latest update in this video. It does not work on 2.6 or earlier.

@@hailnaryproductionz3661 In most cases it is something very simple that is causing the issue. It will definitely work with 2.11. The key to getting it to work is making sure the AKAI NETWORK MIDI is running and you have your MPC selected. That is the main step. After that you have to make sure your settings are correct in ABLETON.

Change your audio interface to the MPC Live 2 instead of your Mac or change the speaker output. If you have "Show Sound in menu bar" set to ALWAYS then you can change the sound output on your Mac by clicking the speaker icon in the top right hand menu and clicking where you want the sound to play from the drop down list you will see.

Akai Network MIDI is an app that you download from your Akai accounts that comes with any standalone MPC you purchase.

If you want to use the MPC to play Ableton drums it’s basically the same as this example unless you are talking about actual audio from the MPC. As far as getting audio into Ableton from the MPC there are a bunch of different ways to do that but it does depend on your audio routing.

Yes it does work on the MPC One. The MPC One doesn’t have WIFI but in order for it to work it had to be hard wired to the internet.

@@e2rEaL82 if the Akai Network Control is picking it up it is working. At this point it’s a matter of making sure the settings are right in Ableton. When you go into Live Control Mode on the MPC you should see the whole Ableton project in it. That is where you can control effects and levels. In order to control the instruments you will have to go back to the MAIN screen and choose MIDI instrument and set it to REMOTE. In Ableton go to PREFERENCES then LINK and make sure the control surface says AKAI FORCE MPC then under input and output both should be AKAI NETWORK DAW. You also have to have AKAI FORCE MPC and AKAI NETWORK MIDI checked on all 4 boxes in MIDI INPUT PORTS. On the output ports you need to have TRACK and REMOTE checked for AKAI FORCE MPC and AKAI NETWORK MIDI.

In order to control Ableton the MPC does not need to be connected to the computer. It will be in STANDALONE. IT DOES NEED TO BE CONNECTED TO THE SAME WIFI NETWORK AS THE COMPUTER. In your Akai account you need to download and install the Akai Wireless Network MIDI Driver. Login to your account then go to your MPC Live and click VIEW DOWNLOADS.

What I’m trying to accomplish is this… I just bought superior drummer 3 and I can’t figure out how to use it as a plug-in inside the MPCX. I would like to just be able to select the different drum kits, inside MPCX, but I can’t figure that out and I’m not sure if it’s possible. So, with the help of your video, I selected superior drummer 3 as my plug-in, in Ableton live. I have an audio track in the MPCX project , and I am trying to record a drum track to that audio track using the midi-remote to Ableton. My problem now is, I need to listen to the audio track in MPCX while I record the Mitty track in the MPCX. I’ve got my headphones plugged in to MPCX. I can see the mini information being recorded to a track in the MPCX, but I need to be able to play to the audio track and hear what’s going on in the MPCX Am I going all about this wrong? I don’t mind the drum track being a midi track as long as I can manipulate it in the MPCX later.. I don’t like working an Ableton. MPCX has a better display of the information.

@@artisticmemoirsoffieldherp7767 yes. You would need to connect the audio out to your audio interface. I’m using a Scarlett 18i20 interface with the main out on the MPC connected to input 3/4 on the Scarlett. Since Ableton is using the scarlet I can also record the MPC directly to Ableton.

It is partially using Ableton link. It’s also using the Ableton Live Control mode that is built into the MPC with remote MIDI. That feature on works in STANDALONE.

The notes are initially recorded in the MPC. Then I recorded the MIDI notes to Ableton.

There are multiple ways to do this depending on the route you want to take. The easiest way I believe would be to bounce the audio in Ableton to a sample and transferring that to the MPC with a SD Card or a Flash Drive. If you want something more direct you could route the audio from the computer to input 1/2 or 3/4 on the MPC and you could sample into the MPC. You could send the MIDI notes to the MPC also but you might not have that exact instrument sound but you will have the ability to change the sound if you like.

How do you get rid of latency?

If it’s latency from the time you hit a pay or keyboard until the time you hear sound you lower your buffer size. 12ms or less is perceived as near zero latency. The same goes for vocal recording but you can eliminate that if your audio interface has direct monitoring.

I've been using the MME/DirectX instead of the asio driver with my Motu and I just changed it and got my settings properly setup and it has completely fixed my latency issue! @@rickmason6157 it’s cool. Some VST3 plugins also have VST2 versions that will scan. Also if you are using a Mac most of them have AU versions as well. Will a plugin like Blue Cat Audio Patchwork you can open VST3 plugins inside of it and they will work. Waves also has a plugin that was free that does this as well but I can’t remember the name off top of my head.
