Hi . Is there anyway to mod this to respond to a call rather than a text ... I don't need it to answer ! I need to operate a relay or bell on ring and stop when the ring ends ..... Our sip phones used to use a function "ring anywhere' that rang an analog line with a factory bell attached .. But the pstn line has been removed .. I could use ring anywhere to ring one of these modules and relay a bell to ring ... But I don't know how to write the code to respond to rings, or even if its possible . Thank you Paul

if your supply is able to provide 2 Amps, it will not compulsory . But i recommend to use it

You should at least use a 470uF capacitor, especially if you have a bad signal - the SIM800X modules are infamous for connection issues because of a low capacitance.

change baud rate in the arduino code, that is what he means. The SIM800L module has its own built-in baud rate. In your arduino code, you should spesify it. Try different baud rates, normally 9600 or 19200 works.

use rechargable 18650 lithium battery. usually it can provide power the module for long period before recharging again. you can use a dc to dc buck converter also to power up the gsm module

1000uf will work. but dropping the power using diods can cause problems. 5v pin cant provide enough current for GSM module
