Controlling Women: With Roe v. Wade at Risk, Authors Say Move Past Court to Save Reproductive Rights

The Supreme Court is set to review a Mississippi law banning abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy that intends to challenge Roe v. Wade, raising concern for advocates about how reproductive rights can be preserved without the landmark ruling. “I think it’s very, very likely that the court will either eradicate the right to choose abortion as we now know it completely or so undermine it to make it meaningless for most of American women,” says Kathryn Kolbert, longtime public interest attorney who argued the case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey before the Supreme Court in 1992, which is credited with saving Roe v. Wade. She lays out her argument in a new book published today, “Controlling Women: What We Must Do Now to Save Reproductive Freedom.” We also speak with co-author Julie Kay, a human rights attorney who argued for a human rights framework for abortion rights in Ireland before the European Court of Human Rights. “We’re not just talking about privacy or even equality,” Kay says of the fight for abortion access in the United States and beyond. “We’re really looking at liberty, dignity and the ability to have full participation in all aspects of life.”

They also dont use paternity. Thats how anatomically modern humans lived for the last hundred thousand yrs until about 10,000 yrs ago. Also, you are confusing biological class with legal class. And I am unsute actually what your statement even means, we are all medically and biologically different, some people take insulin or use wheelchairs, or a pump for erectile dysfunction. Even if you are a primitivist, abortion has been around before any of that, since the beginning. Its more inviolate to human rights than freedom of speech, arms or labor.

Sexes gives lifeforms the opportunity to pass on different mixes of genes to different individual offspring so if the environment changes some will hopefully have the right mix to survive. Personally, 1) I'm a male who is pro-choice but feels that it's ultimately a women's right/decision to take birth control and that Roe V. Wade should remain in effect as it currently is. 2) When it comes to the 1st and 2nd trimester, I don't agree with the argument that the baby is truly alive even with a heartbeat since it also lacks a brain, its lungs, and an immune system, which are needed to keep it alive (And something like this happened to a family member whom I won't mention by name). 3) I believe that once a baby is born it should have affordable medical care/coverage for its entire life since I'm pro-life in that regard and not just pro-birth. And 4) I don't believe male politicians should be able to create laws regulating what women can or can't do with their own bodies when that sets a precedent for female politicians to create laws regulating what men can do to theirs.
