+Harcha U know...It almost got the opposite reaction from me. I noticed something weird flashing. Then I went back and tried to pause right at the moment, and I did. Then I was like "WTF is slendy doing in a AoE vid?" Then I felt this urge to run away like there's no tomorrow and never look back lol. Glad I didn't, tho. This vid helped me A LOT!

Came here so I can learn about the hotkey for pausing because of the saved game pause glitch. F10 on a game that you haven't yet saved works for this. It however does not beat the glitch I'm trying to bypass. It does bring up the menu but the other half of F10 should be to effect the pause state which this glitch seems to do no matter how you try to stop it. F7 doesn't work even on non-glitch games Such a shame because it limits the kinds of games you can play on AoE3 massively to only quick games on small maps. I have the vanilla game.

The video was delayed because I couldn't render the video as I wanted. Had some codec issues, since I used a new video capture software. The program (Mirillis Action!) was great, but the codec that it uses seems rather unfinished. Basically I had to try to guess what exactly Vegas doesn't like about it by trial and error (as if editing already didn't take enough time).

Thanks for the video! I’ve played AOE 3 since I was 10 or 12, never got use to hotkeys though. The definitive edition is coming out soon! Maybe you could make an updated video or the most important hot keys for new players? Keep up the content.

Wireless mice have a pretty noticeable delay. Before I was using the M510 and didn't notice any delay while playing. But after that I bought a Razer Deathadder 2013, after using it for some seconds it felt soooo much better than the M510 and when I visited a friend (who still has the M510) I noticed a pretty big delay I could never feel before. For gaming: corded mice >>> wireless mice (especially in FPS)

YOU FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT HOTKEY. What do you use to create villagers? Do you set all Tcs to a control group and the click '1' and then the create villager hotkey? This is critical information, because in aoe2, I got in the bad habit of pressing 'h' to go to my town center, but then I cannot manage my economy as well while fighting because it jumps to the tc. For AOE3, I don't want to get in a bad habit from the beginning, so please, what do you use to create villagers?

I use ~ to select TC (but not jump to it!) and the default V to queue villager.

And... one more: What is the number of troops and eco (vill and shrines separatly) you can get with late double strat at 6:30 minutes in game when you play? I ask this because you have a very good micro on Japan.s eco, and I want to have a reference point for myself. Cheers!

I can bind mouse 3 by just clicking it as a regular key. If that doesn't work you should try to find some drivers for your specific mouse. By that time you would have about 13 shrines if you're shrinebooming (also a market with the age 1 upgrades). Usually in a match-up that lets you boom you will continue to max out the shrines. I don't know how many villagers, but I just keep a constant villager production. At 6:30 you will only have your first troops queued with a boom build. I don't usually set reference points for myself, with japan I just try to play as greedy as my opponent allows but try to bite him if he leaves himself too exposed. Against British this is very tough though, because they just boom better.

Well I learned them gradually over the years I've played this game. Start with the finding unit / town center / commands keys and move on to unit groups / unit tactics / abilities / train units keys. For the latter I changed my desktop background to always keep reminding myself of the keys I had set for making my units. That way I learned them fast.

High APM comes with thousands of hours spent gaming and trying to be better than the next guy. RTS games will be better for getting higher APM than turn-based games or puzzles.

more powerful not in that way but in a way like, it has a higher resolution than the other? Its sensitivity is better too (or higher), and when you play a game like aoe3 it's actually better and faster to move around the camera, (which the corded one is not as fast as the wireless i have) but I realized that pro players use the hotkeys more often instead of moving around the camera to have a better gameplay, which in my case I use my mouse a lot in the game (still getting used to hotkeys)

Daniel Dias the point I was making is that corded mouses on average are more reliable. Of course most of it comes down to preference. Sensitivity also goes into preference. For example I can set my mouse to 400, 1850 and 3500. I am used to 1850. This number multiplied by your windows/ingame setting is what makes up the actual sensitivity. Generally using hotkeys compared to moving mouse is a better option as it requires less time and precision.

What I do is i map them to a key far away from other keys (like num9). You could also disable key conflicts and map the same key to another function which will remove the key from its previous function.

Canabino Canab no problem, thats why the comment section is here. As far as i know there isn't a way to unmap all keys. I don't unmap all keys, just the ones that I sometimes press by accident. The other ones i leave as is, because i know i wont press them anyway.
