We realise the general public may not fully understand the complexities behind this so let us enlighten you. Competitors cannot bring thier own mics for a number of reasons (unlike NUE21 where we did this for a mixture of covid purposes and not enough budget to do what we currently do). 1st it is important competitors have a fair and level playing field which if competitors use different types of mics they bring from home its not only unfair but also makes the judges job alot harder but this also creates a financial barrier to entry as those who could afford more expensive equipment may have an advantage. SE Electronics graciously sponsor our event and one condition is we use thier mics they provide. Its important to mention that we take competitors health very seriously and as a result we provide 16 different mic grilles for each solo participant to each do thier elimination rounds on a fresh clean grille of thier own without the need to purchase 16 different microphones. During the battles the competitors have the choice if they want to switch thier personal grille for the day onto the mic between rounds or not. Actually all competitors prefered to share thier battle mic for reasons we will go into in a moment. Despite this between battles the grilles are switched to one of the competitors grilles they used for thier elimination so we maintain as good health and safety standards as possible even if thier personal choice is to share a mic if they trust the persons health they are battling against (in this case these two know each other very well). The reasons competitors use one mic input are a plenty. Firstly regardless of if you copy the mic settings to an identical 2nd mic both competitors and judges a like always wonder or feel perhaps they are set at unequal levels (when in actual fact its just one competitor being louder than the other). Its become a regular thing in beatbox battles competitors prefer to use the same line to ensure a fair and level playing field and judges can clearly note differences between personal loudness and technique like this. A main reason that in this years case all solo battlers prefered to use the same mic per battle is so as not to spend time in between rounds changing grilles. Not only battlers and judges prefer the flow of a battle to continue by not having time inbetween rounds or even an additional countdown but also youtube viewers of NUE23 and previous events have commented saying they would prefer a battle flows nicely like this rather than stopping inbetween rounds, we keep the energy and hype up but competitors are asked before battles off camera and if for thier own health reasons they prefer to switch grilles between rounds they absoloutly can, but all chose not to for these reasons. Though it may appear so, nothing is ever as simple as it seems and we take deep consideration towards all decisions.

@nuebeatbox in Canada's we ad an amount of beatbox champ and it's not difficult to find juges they now to do the job, it's not difficult to find a better sound systems, it's not difficult to find better wires, it's not difficult to be human, the hygiene is the most important thing in a artist jobs like this, hygiene is a full part of beatbox if you don't respect these principles, it's clear that event organization isn't for you. And most artists have better microphones than event organiser.
