We had a bunch of hooks snap due to messing with the temper of the hook. We ended up hearing a needle and melting then inside just before putting it on the hook which ended up working better. Tight lines!

I often wondered how heating the hook up would effect it's durability. And your idea seems a lot better

I suppose in cold weather with a cold metal vice, you could cool the hook too quickly. Effectively quenching it.

I did something like this but with a squirmy worm tail instead. Worked pretty good for lake run browns, Atlantic salmon and steelhead here in the finger lakes area and the tributaries out of Ontario lake.

#flies getting closer to egg pattern season, and ive had alot of luck on galaxy mop flies already, so this would be the double whammy.

I had egg for breakfast didn't think I'd watch one being made later - killer pattern would go down well with the hotdog one 🌭 or a full fry up 😂

#flies Dont see any reason this would not do well with smallmouth in my area. Thanks for sharing.

Why do you need to heat if you’re using UV resin?
@ph1shstyx5 ай бұрын
Assuming to make the hole a little bigger as well to be able to fit more resin in there. I don't like possibly messing with the temper of the hooks so I have a sewing needle I usually heat up and use instead of heating up the hook eye.

I don’t really want it banned even though I think it’s ridiculous. I just know what I’m dealing with when I meet the “mop fly” or squirmy worm guys on the stream so I don’t expect much from them. I do expect that one of these days I’m going to see a “fly” tying tutorial in which the you tube tier is lassoing a chunk of Berkeley gulp to a hook and extolling its virtues. 😂
