I could write a whole paper about this whole album. This tragic love letter.

That outro, man. It sounds like running out into a thunderstorm screaming, crying and cussing at God. It sounds as if the last bit of hope to surmount this tragedy has just run out and now all you can do is scream in grief. This is a living nightmare. You don't want to see what it's like when the dust settles and leave behind what has been lost. But tomorrow always comes, and I think Jane Doe, the next and final song on this album, captures this: the depressing moving-on phase; the forgetting; the fading of emotions; the survivor's guilt; the broken promises to never let go; the loss of meaning over distance and time; the neutering of a soul.

Beautifully put mate. It never gets completely neutered though, that's why we keep coming back here ;)

Absolute favourite, such a masterpiece of an album.

It's extremity and heaviness haven't waned even a little. Groundbreaking for 2001.

I love that intro drum fill, with fast snare hits and kick combo. Ben is really talented and he can make also small drum fills, really interesting.

I think the ending of this song is one of the biggest highlights of the album

The entire opening riff leading into and including when Jacob starts singing "Thaw" is one of my favourite pieces of Converge songwriting. Also Nate's weird bassline in that bridge before the big climax.

Always knew about Kurt and Converge but once I saw them live I was hellbent on building Kurt’s pedal that’s also his business card; The Brutalist Jr. Thanks to Kurt, I’m building my first pedal very soon!

This lowkey sounds like it’s mixed a lot better than on Spotify. The guitars feel crunchier, the bass rumbles, and the drums hit like a sledgehammer

yeah, also some of the vocals are way easier to pick out than the download i have and the spotify version.
