14 years passed. I watched. But never wrote, a coment. Here we are, in times of pandemic. Such words of unworldly wisdom are better loved especially now. Thank you and May the good Lord be with you.

fascinating. They both brought much to the conversation, One point re. the link between capitalism and monasticism: It's worth remembering that the move towards industrialisation in the west came AFTER the reformation in the 16th C. Isnt it more likely to be the Protestant move AWAY from monasticism - allowing people to WORK almost all of the time instead of keeping a balanced routine of work, relaxation and prayer which leads to the growth of our modern workaholic capitalist society?

Oh yes; very informative, enlightening, peaceful, and yet very inspiring video. Christ-centred life which seems simple enough and yet befitting to very humble and loving individuals only. A team of holy people serving God and man, in my opinion , as it should or ought to be done. Incredible bunch of people. I like the history behind this monastic order. Father Jiles seemed so relax, perhaps, the right word is humble. Humility at its best. Many thanks for sharing. Welldone and God bless †

It is good to hear this Benedictine, sage like monk speak. IMO is the style of interviewing not fantastic ... I hope many independent, spiritually orientated communes will blossom around the world, where ppl learn to practice sacred methods of communicating with the Divine, where ppl till some land, grow veg, keep bees, bake their own bread, etc., aiming at diligently practicing compassion and kindness for all living beings, and sharing highest wisdom with those seeking it.

I must admit I found the interviewer very irritating early on, but warmed to him before too long. Pluscardine Abbey is an incredible place to visit.

Good way to avoid the evil world.

F Tan - A very ill-informed and judgemental remark. Monks and nuns do NOT avoid the "evil world" - You would be surprised to find that they probably have more knowledge and understanding of world politics and what is going-on than so-called "people-in-the-world"! (...and I speak from many years of personal experience).

@xburningheavensx Are u working in a refugee camp? Do u maybe have a fam., friends, a job, so u work together with people, to be able to eat, sleep, do what u think u must do. Is that selfish?? Do u want to dictate to all existing groups living communally, they must chose your life style, or go work in refugee camps? Do u prefer corporate greed manifesting? on the spot where this commune creates a peaceful atmosphere, and for many a soul in trouble a shelter from the storm ..

This kind of arrogance and snobbery is what has fostered institutional abuse and this group is no different.
