The Modernist Dilemma: One of the miracles of the holy Quran is that it is timeless i.e. it has been sent for people of all times, so it must carry a message for people of all times, which means that all its verses with their contexts have something in them for people to accept the right path. Now, in the verses where Quran has used the word “Momin” the context shows that the word is used as such that it is calling a faction of people in every era “Momin” (if we take it in the context of being timeless and for all ages). For the Quran to be timeless there must be a faction which we can call “Momin” throughout the Muslim history. The Quran describes a “Momin” as the one who preaches the truth, and in order to preach the truth you must know the truth. Now, a modernist makes a claim (devices new principles to interpret the deen which were not adopted “throughout” our history), so according to him this is the truth, but this “truth” was not known throughout (in each and every single moment of) our history. As described above a “Momin” must exist in all times and he is the one who must know the truth. But the perceived truth of the modernist was not known by anyone in each and everytime. We must have one of these two possible since no one adopted these principles/ knew these truths he would have not been able to preach these The Quran is not timeless as it does not call a faction of society throughout ages “Momin” Or the modernist claim is false For a Muslim the later must be true. The examples of modernist claims  Ghamdi’s claim that ahadith with a single chain of narration can not be used for a fatwa.
