i personally use a medium sized brush with just a tiny bit of water on it to pick up and place the smallest of bits

When I superglue small stuff I put a tiny blob of the glue onto a toothpick, then apply to the model. It's extremely easy to maintain precise control.

One thing that I try to remember when working with and attaching small- components! (that’s an appropriate substitute for “bits”, yeah?)- is to never do any conversions if I had cut my fingernails that day or the day before. My actual fingertips are often much clumsier at holding small parts than even a day’s growth of nail used like tweezers. It sounds a bit gross, but I don’t cut my nails if I’m about to work on something small. I don’t let them get anywhere NEAR being long, in fact most people wouldn’t even see the difference, but it aids me to a surprising degree.

Ahh! can't believe I could not think of "components". Good one!. Also really like the idea of using your finger nails and will have to give it a try, as my fingers are quite clumsy as well.

BTW you are making really good use of the worse shoulder pad assembly they started with the death guard

thanks! I hate the studded mk6 shoulder pads, but at least the issues with them kinda go away when you shave them down.

For making the Pteruges (Roman Leather Skirts) for my Hombrew Marines, I use the little studs of the shoulder pad that come with the Intercessors for extra detail. For glueing them on, I put super glue on my Hobby knife, but it on the Straps and then Pick the Stud up with the Knife. The little amount of glue helpd the stud Stick very nicely, and because there is more glue on the strap than on the knife, the stud Bonds with the strap.

Hmm, I will need to try adding some super glue to the tip of my knife. Thanks for the tip! How do you make the leather part of the pteruges?

@@AmnioticlyTanked I use very fine sandpaper and cut trough the flat back of it. It is the perfect thickness to bend and glue to place while being hard enough to not tear. My measurements for firstborn are 1cm×0,4mm for 4 little straps of the length of 0,7mm.
@AmnioticlyTanked2 жыл бұрын
Huh, I would have never though to use sandpaper... Love the idea and thanks for sharing. This would work too for shoulder pad leather straps Im guessing right? Like on cataphractii?

@@AmnioticlyTanked I was thinking of doing it for my Dreadnought, havent tried it out just yet. The only tricky thing would be to apply the straps to (maybe the inside) of the pads. But otherwise it should work just fine 👍

What shoulder pad are you talking about? I thought intercessors only come with generic trimmed shoulder pads.

Very important tip: don't have your Roomba going during conversion work or kit-bashing.

Lmao yeah, you kinda got me there. Having a bit of trouble getting weekly conversion videos out just due to the time commitment, so I am experimenting with additional content from the same conversions, that I hope is still somewhat useful.

Where did you get the bases from? I really like them

They are from Galladoria Games. I am experimenting with SioCast a bit so wanted to give them a try. galladoria.com/products/dungeon-floor-base-32mm

I will sometimes use my thumbnail as a cutting mat, for certain parts. Its definetely easier than cutting very small parts on an actual cutting mat, providing the part is not extremely tiny like your very small EC bits. For small cuts/shavings like this, even a very sharp knife wont cut through the nail.
@AmnioticlyTanked2 жыл бұрын
I will have to give that a try as well! There are times that my cutting mat just has way too much stuff on it from shavings or other debris.
