Can you expand a bit where you said if you wanted to have more than just a static color and take advantage of ARGB you'd have to buy a separate controller? What's the minimalist way to be able to use all of ARGB capabilities with only a RGB header?
@techlessYT4 жыл бұрын
The minimalist way (or rather the only way) would be a separate ARGB controller. Unfortunately the standard RGB header (12V GRB) can only carry information for a single static color at once, so ARGB effects, that require more than one color at once, are simply not possible. So the only way to enjoy real ARGB without an appropriate header is to get a dedicated ARGB controller.

I am little bit puzzled, if my motherboard had a RGB header it wont work? for GRB only header only? Thanks!
@techlessYT4 жыл бұрын
What we call RGB header usually is either a 12V GRB header or some kind of ARGB header. For the latter you of course won't need the Deepcool converter. The converter will expect a 12V GRB signal. You can check the printing on the mainboard next to the RGB headers to see what type they are and what pinout they have. You will find that in the mainboard's manual as well. Even if your mainboard has an uncommon pinout, like 12V RGB, there's usually an option to change that inside your RGB software. The setting is sometimes called "calibration". When doing a calibration the mainboard will show every of the three RGB colors once and you will have to select whether you're seeing e.g. red or green.
@erinegonzales874 жыл бұрын
@@techlessYT I get it now, i already checked the motherboard GRB Header. thanks.

@techlessYT4 жыл бұрын
You can connect two 12V GRB fans to the converter in addition to your ARGB hardware. I assume your ARGB hardware needs to connect to the same header? You may use a hub to power those 4 components at once, though you will have to try if the power output is sufficient for your specific components. It's always good practice to run as few components from a single header as possible.

@techlessYT4 жыл бұрын
Actually I'm not aware of a single Z77 board that has any RGB headers at all, neither 5V ARGB nor 12V GRB. If that is true for your boards as well, there's no other way than getting a dedicated RGB controller that connects over (internal) USB. The headers you're mentioning are probably just fan headers (fan rotation, not light).
@grnmindead4 жыл бұрын

I recently bought a Deepcool CF120 fan, which i mistakenly thought I could plug straight into my MSI B450M mother board (JRGB1 12v pins) . If I purchased one of these adapters, would only plugging in the 3 pin fan cable work still allow me to control the RGB? The other cable would become redundant?
@techlessYT4 жыл бұрын
You need to plug in both cables. The 3 pin fan cables connects to your mainboard to power the fan itself (rotation only, no light). The additional RGB cable goes into the converter and will only be responsible for RGB.
