I'm not using it at all, because it's unusable on OLED.

I highly suspect it is because of industry leaders forming cartels. It’s the same reason we simply can’t get good looking Lambo level cars for cheap prices despite design adding 0 to cost. If 2k 24 was standard which is what it should be and what everybody actually wants everything else on the market wouldnt sell. This is also why cool stuff these days always exlusively comes out of asia. It is highly illogical that there is no 2k 24 inch oled for example but if someone would sell that for 300 bucks it would instantly get 70% marketshare just like if any car brand would make a lambo looking car for 30k.

i think years ago, I went with a dell that was 1440p IPS 24". For some reason I ended up returning it, I can't explain it. The pixel density was nice but it felt awkward at that size or maybe that specific panel for some reason. Used 1080p higher refresh rate instead since then but now on a 1440p 27" oled and nothing compares.

You should probably have mentioned what Reflex actually does. Standard Nvidia Reflex caps the number of queued frames to 1 while Ultra removes frame queuing entirely. While this does improve frame times, capping or removing queued frames means that you lose your PC's ability to smooth out stuttering. Increased stuttering can also be a massive downside for visual clarity. Manual FPS limits are the way to go imo.

G-Sync looks choppy compared to VSYNC

Nvidia CP; G-sync On, Vsync Off (also in-game). FPS limit 3-4 fps below refresh rate. Low latency mode "ON" if the Fps drops very often and its not stable to reach max refresh rate. For an example If you got 240 hz monitor and fps is mostly 200-237 fps use max+boost or even ultra latency mode. If is unstable, then use low latency mode "On".

My Monitor is 60Hz without G-Sync or FreeSync. What Do I do for low latency without tearing? V-Sync+FrameCap?
@kevinforget5497 сағат бұрын
figured this out by accident when testing cyberpunk and saw massive increase in latency from 20ms to 60ms tuning v sync on even with g sync enabled, which i did since i was still getting screen tearing without v sync and didn't know why g sync wasnt working. reducing my fps to 96 for my 100fps monitor saw my latency drop right back down to normal with no tearing and now I know why.

Set monitor to 144hz and turn off the g-sync or v-sync or any sync. In games setting , set fps to lower than 144hz. You only need sync when your in game fps setting is higher than your monitor refresh rate.

I think the main takeaway is to always compare your options directly with sites like rtings. Often times with monitors, they are simply over priced, so they might only be worth buying on a good sale

If reflex plus boost or FPS cap both limit your refresh rate below the refresh of the monitor, then setting vsync on (or off) makes no difference either way as it will never get to the point that vsync kicks in, so your chart saying to always have vsync on is redundant, you can leave it off if you prefer to have it turned off

Reflex + boost caps my fps to 99.7 on a 144 hz display (and a game that normally runs 144 fps) , which is odd. Doesn't feel smooth to me at all, while pure vsync (at 144 hz) does. can somebody explain?
@andreaspooky618316 сағат бұрын
The solution would be that every game could be configured at its "max available combination" by the Nvidia/AMD control panel, when it adds the game to its DB. But does it, though?
@beigealert426817 сағат бұрын
why bother with vsync though, just use gsync/freesync with an fps limiter. the monitor will never be in vsync state if the fps never reaches the monitor refresh,
@derschunk17 сағат бұрын
So do I still have to activate G-Sync in the Nvidia App/Driver additionally to using Reflex+Boost ingame to avoid tearing or will the Reflex setting do that on its own. I didnt really get that part.

so what about games that dont let you set a fps limit. Like fortnite only lets you do 240, cant do 237. What should you do there?

Fortnite actually lets you set a custom FPS limit through the config file. Using the FPS limiter in the Nvidia app is easier though.

I got a question maybe you or someone would know. I using a rtx 3070 on a Hisense u8n(has AMD freesync on/off)( up to 144hz) and idk what's best. I'm fairly certain Nvidia has not "approved" my TV on their list of approved Freesync Monitors and probably won't. So basically I'm wondering what i turn off or on between my TV, GPU, and In Game settings. Thanks.
@gensem22 сағат бұрын
You ended up mixing the render queue with gsync, they are unrelated. If there is no queue because of either reflex or lower gpu usage the input delay will always be lower. Btw im unable to see tearing is new oled and va high refresh monitor either way.
@pwnlads23 сағат бұрын
The big issue is that most of people don't understand that V-Sync and G-Sync/FreeSync even though they are Sync technolgies, they do diferent things... V-Sync just caps the FPS of your game to what you monitor refresh rate is. Where G-Sync will lower the hz of your monitor when the FPS of your game drops below of your monitor refresh rate. Because some people fail to realize this, they think enabling G-Sync does the V-Sync as well.

Even when its set up properly I swear it still feels bad. Unlocked frame rates always feel faster despite the inconsistent frame times. It wont be as smooth tho. But your mouse movement will almost always feel more crisp with unlocked high frame rates. IMO
