Brilliant use of drill and tubing cutter for a simple solution...I like the bungee cord foot pedal control too!

Thanks 😊 The foot pedal makes all the difference along with the drill chuck works finger tight.

Great way to do the initial cut off. I used a tubing cutter myself a few times but your method with the drill and spacer is really great.

The pipe cutter and drill thing is ingenious. I just bought me one of those harbor freight cutoff saws, wouldn’t have wasted the money if I would have found this vid sooner. Lol.

Thanks😊 When I was looking at drills, I went for less expensive and works without a key. Glad I got this one as it's perfect for the job!

Glad I found this method. I wasn't looking forward to getting a mini saw that would only be used for one job.
@DB-be9wy8 ай бұрын
The mini saw with jig is much better and more accurate for this. You get a consistent cut every time in the same spot without the human error involved with placing the pipe cutter at the right spot. You would most likely need to trim these a bit still and then anneal them and then resize them again after annealing if you were doing it right which this video doesn't show.

I use the Harbor Freight chop saw method and had often thought that a tubing cutter ought to be able to do the same thing. That is a cool set up glad it works well for you. I might have to borrow your idea some day.....thank ya!

I just sat on my sofa one night with a tubing cutter watching Netflix. But that drill idea is redneck brilliant.

Was about to buy a small cut off wheel and jig, not anymore. Will be making my own bullets and converting any 223 cases I find. Thanks for the idea :)

I trim mine with the tube cutter also . I never thought of making the drill foot operated though .
@arectechafterwork97723 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments! I do enjoy watching your videos. The foot control does help quite a bit. Also, this drill chuck works very well with finger tension. This tube cutter is small and easy to manage with finger control but it does wear out where it contacts the drill chuck and that can change the case length some. I do try to keep that area lubed up. 😊

Pretty ingenious. I’m gonna use this method for converting 6.5 Creedmoor to 8.6 BLK

Like the drill tube cutter set up. 1. How do you end up getting the exact length of the brass correct? 2. What is the fancy primer pocket tool you have. And does it install primers?
@arectechafterwork97723 жыл бұрын
I just went by trial and error to get the case size where I wanted it. I have a RCBS bench priming tool. Works great!

Humm nice outside the box thinking, got me thinking to add a old sewing machine foot pedal to replace the trigger on the drill by using a cheep cord drill and plugging in where the machine did

Very ingenious ! Could you not swage first when it is still .223 brass ? Maybe i missed something idk
@arectechafterwork97722 жыл бұрын
Yep! I swaged a whole bucket of 223 / 556. Not all of them needed it but still managed to miss one here and there. It's good to know that you can swage 300 blackout if need be.

Sure but it's not my invention. I swiped it off the internet. 😊 Liquid Lanolin and Iso Heet ( the red bottle ). Nothing exact but somewhere around 10 to 1 with 10 being the Heet. Don't do a really big batch as that will last for a long time.

What I changed when dealing with brass. Before they go into a tumbler. They get dumped into a bucket of hot soapy water. This keeps the tumbler and media clean. No more black residue build-up.
