Works, but I have to suggest something to Linux users. Use Screen instead of Putty and use a PC with a serial port built-in or a USB dongle that is on Amazon ( it will save you some headaches when connecting to the AP). Also don't forget to format 'flash:' because if you have another firmware installed that is more updated it will defaults loading the one with a higher version number.

How does the Home Router comes into play here? Why would I need the router when I can just plug directly into the PoE injector and from the injector into the AP with both devices statically configured. Why not do it that way?

Great! Really helpful. I cannot succesfully load the firmware via tftp...i guess it could be a reachability issue. One question: when the AP is in ROM mode, is it able to respond to the ping? Because if i ping it from the tftp server i receive no response...

I followed the steps shown in the video, but when I type "format flash:" ("AP64f6.9d00.9870 # format flash:") it fails "% Invalid input detected at '^' marker." The '^' character points to the "o" of the "format flash:" command line. Please show me what to do? Thank you very much

Thanks for watching...If you follow my video and configure IP address correctly according to your network setup it should work. If TFTP is not working then normally TFTPd works on port 69. So you need to check whether any other application blocking port 69 or not. If you have any other TFTP server (solarwind TFTP Server)installed previously on your pc then uninstall all existing TFTP server then restart and again install TFTPd 64 server link given in the description and follow my video perfectly hopefully it would work. Thanks

This happened to me, apparently those commands don't always work to set the IP address. It's like the access point doesn't want to change any ethernet settings when in bootloader mode. My first AP was okay with it, but the second one didn't want anything to do with it. What I did to fix it was look at the boot up and see what file it searched for automatically. Its something that ends in .default. You'll know it when you see it. I changed image file name to that, changed my computer to IP address 10.0.0.2, subnet 255.0.0.0, started TFTP server and moved that .default file into the root, rebooted the AP, and it automatically found and pulled the file and flashed it. It was much easier to deal with. Hope that helps.
