That’s one great video! Thanks a lot. In addition to what you have done here, you could also experiment with the Formant Tool in Melodyne to make the mandolin body sound ‘smaller’ than a guitar.

Celemony hey thanks. Glad you dig the video. Haha. I will check out the formant function. I didn't even think of that. Feel free to share it :)

We certainly will. :)

Oh, and while you’re at it, some timing edits, e.g. tiny offsets, would also add to the realism.

Another great tip. I may go back to that session and try that out and do a quick follow viddy. Thanks again, You guys have created such a brilliant plugin.

So I tried the time offset and formant trick. I liked turning the formant up a little bit but as far as the timing offset it was really easy to move it too far. If the timing is moved just a smidgen it sounded pretty authentic.

I use to do this with a capo on my accoustic 12 string . Sounds great in Recording.

You could also experiment with the timing of your second track to emulate the little delay of the pick on the second string.

Jan Jahnke that is a good idea. Thanks!

great job on this and thank you for sharing. Q- were you using Melodyn Essential or Studio to pull this off?
@ChrisAllenCombs2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Glad you liked the viddy! I am actually using Melodyne Editor (2020) which is the single track version of studio? You could probably just as easily do this with essentials as long as the tool set is the same.

Melodyne Editor vs. Melodyne Essentials: Melodyne Editor (currently priced $399.00) is a more advanced version of the software. It includes a number of features that are not available in Melodyne Essentials. One of the main differences between the two is that Melodyne Editor allows for more detailed editing of individual notes and pitches within a single track. This includes the ability to adjust the timing and pitch of individual notes, as well as more advanced features like polyphonic pitch editing and formant correction. Melodyne Essentials, on the other hand, is designed to provide basic pitch correction and tuning capabilities for a single track. While it does allow you to adjust the pitch and timing of notes, it does not offer the same level of detail or control as Melodyne Editor. That being said, Melodyne Essentials is still a powerful tool for basic pitch correction and tuning, and it may be sufficient for many users' needs. However, if you require more advanced editing capabilities, like in this video, you would need Melodyne Editor.
