Does your input contains an alpha channel? Did you play the video through OBS?

So I used Shutter Encoder to convert transparent MOV to webm and it worked fine, now I wanted to compress the webm file a little more but I can not keep the transparency no matter the settings?

All I'm trying to do is a resize a transparent webm video to a larger pixel size, but even with "Enable Alpha Channel" checked on, choosing either VP8 and VP9 does not result in a transparent file. The background goes black. I've gone through so many of these utility apps (online, offline, paid, free) trying to do this relatively simple thing; keep everything as is... just make the dimensions bigger... but no success. super frustrating that this format isn't more supported.

I'm trying to convert MOV Animation, MOV 4444, or Uncompressed AVI with Alpha exports from After Effects, but Shutter Encoder can't encode them with Alpha. In the Information menu, the color space is RGBA. YUVA is essential to work with alpha?

Which player do you use for playing the webm file? Currently OBS and Firefox show the alpha channel other like chrome display a black background despite the alpha is working.

How did you test the VP9 exported file? If you're 100% sure you have an alpha channel in your source file, the VP9 will have for sure.

I know for sure that my video has an alpha however the webm both v8 and v9 are not coming out with an Alpha. Its currently an issue with Adobe Media Encoder as well.. Was hoping this app would be my work around but it seems to be suffering from the same issues. Do you know if this is a root issue with FFmeg or just webm as a container?

@@SUPonTOP I have spent the better part of a month literally learning code to try and find a work around with no luck. I haven't been able to accept clients for certain aspects of my business simply because I can't find a work around to this. Which is irritating because I don't understand how open source software wouldn't have had someone fix it at this point

@@boblade I found a fix, you want to install ffmpeg on your device, you can convert mov to webm with little quality loss. It the only solution i found for now. Enter in CMD after you CD to your folder (with videos): ffmpeg -i "file-oinput-name".mov -c:v libvpx-vp9 -crf 33 -b:v 0 -speed 4 "file-output-name".webm

Hi, My original file color space is RGBA is that the same thing? Then I try to create a webm file with transparency as in the video but it doesnt work. I am testing the new file in AfterEffects

I exported my video with Davinci and Alpha channel but it's just showing YUV for color space not YUVA. Changing it to WEBM still nets me a black background. I should note I couldn't export the video with alpha channel as an MP4 because for some reason the PC version of Davinci doesn't have an alpha channel option for h.265. I have to go through Quicktime and DNxHR to get alpha channel. Is there an alternate method I could use?

Just export as Qicktime with Alpha(.mov) in Davinci and convert to webm with shutter encoder :)

@@mrgamy196 That method is what I was using and in Shuttle Encoder is where it's saying YUV, not YUVA. I am exporting Quicktime with Alpha in Davinci, using DNxHR.

I’m having problems with the download of the software, I donated because i was happy but Microsoft has the app flagged and it’s telling me “this app isn’t downloaded often, make sure you trust Shutter Encoder before you open it” please help

Thank you dide for making such a useful and working software. Before i was using uniconverter cracked version, but shutter encoder is a good free alternative, even better than that. I am going to keep this software alongside mkvtoolnix and avidmux.

Hi, the FFV1 is perfect to stock your video losslessy but it's not standard (only usable through FFmpeg/Shutter Encoder). H.265 is maybe a more reliable way with a bitrate around 10 000kb/s to keep a good quality and stock them. Then use a codec like DNxHR or ProRes for editing.
