There is a big loss of quality when do this w/ 4K videos. Have studio version. Is there a way to regain some of the quality back ? Do you know of any third party software that can help ? AI Topaz ?

The resolution is lower when you vertical but at least for me, still looks good.

My videos were shot vertically, so the resolution of the media files is correct, but when I change the project resolution, it shrinks my video down so that it's surrounded by black bars. If I try to zoom the image, it only zooms within the shrunk frame and the black bars remain. Any advice?

Hmmm that's odd Paul if you changed your project resolution to match the resolution of your vertical video, I wouldn't think that there would be black bars. You might also want to check your export settings to make sure they're using project resolution settings as well.

@@GeekoutdoorsBrand thanks. I tried a bunch of things and eventually got it to work by decreasing the export resolution to 1080x1920. The free version of Resolve won't export more than 2160 vertical pixels.

Yes you'll just have to make sure your vertical resolution is correct and the 4K crop works for you.
