This was a fun project. I get this question asked all the time “can you convert a stitch down design into a Good year welt”. I say “anything is possible “. In this video I show you how I did this pair. This was a $900 project. The size made it challenging to find a last that would work, lucky I sourced a pair that fit perfectly. So come join me for a step by step process on how I did it. /POLO MEN'S BOOTS/

I’m not a shoe maker (then proceeds to make shoes) you can tell a master craftsman by his humility! Awesome work!

My exact thoughts… I’ve seen this gentleman replace all aspects of a shoe or boot, so I’m just waiting for him to simply build a full pair of shoes from scratch. 😉

By the time Steve was done it was no longer a Polo, it is a Bedo. There was almost no point in mentioning what the original brand was. Stunning!

HI, STEVE!! You're NOT a Shoemaker?! Then why on earth did you just make a pair boots right before our very eyes? I mean, I think, WE ALL think, that you are of a dying breed of actual shoe crafters on the planet! Every item leaves your hands constructed to last for decades, Steve. A lot of people don't have that dedication to their profession anymore. We appreciate you and your Master Craftsmanship!! ❤🎩

These are my favorite types of projects. I love major restoration and/or upgrades. I really appreciate the detail that you show. Over the past year or so I've studied all of your videos, plus a few other channels, and I've accumulated the necessary knowledge, tools, and materials so that now I'm doing my own repair and restoration projects at home as a hobby on used and vintage shoes that I buy for myself. It's incredibly satisfying and enjoyable. I'd give my left nut for a sole stitching machine though! Stitching them completely by hand is hard work. 😬

Another man with a big understanding! That's my size, 15D. Great job on transforming those into a real shoe. I was surprised you didn't do a heel counter too, m'be not appropriate for a chukka boot. Fine job on them Steve. When it's time for my AEs to get some love, I'm going with a mid-sole and a JR on top of that. Us big guys need the added support. Sadly, my local cobbler doesn't do Lulu tips (at all), but his workmanship is good. He's 3rd generation in that shop and is raising up 4th generation working there with him.

Steve: I have watched a ton of bespoke shoe makers work at making shoes. The only thing you did not do is click out the upper suede pieces. Like someone (in many factories) handed you all the pieces and you assembled the shoes. I would call that 'shoemaker'. Your methods are very clever and seem like they will outlast regular shoes. Thanks for sharing.
