Convertible Car Seats For Newborns: What Hospital Staff Need To Know

If you work in a hospital or birth center that discharges newborn infants, here’s what to know about convertible car seats:
1. They are a legal and safe option for newborns when fitted and installed correctly: an infant carrier is not legally required in any US state!
2. Car seat tests/angle tolerance testing can be done in a convertible or all-in-one car seat!
3. It is not necessary to make parents uninstall and bring the convertible or all-in-one seat up to the hospital room (unless baby needs to do the angle tolerance test in it), and NEVER ask parents to carry their newborn out in a convertible or all-in-one car seat.
