The belt path on the bottom is supposed to be across her lap (across her legs). Also you're not suppose to lock the belt. Please don't advertise and give incorrect and potentially dangerous information.

Hi there! As a CPST I would not dream of giving unsafe or incorrect information. The vest is across her lap for most of the video (except the part where I am demonstrating to caregivers what NOT to do with it), and the manufacturer of the vest actually does permit the seatbelt to be locked if desired! Locking the belt is optional, but can be beneficial for some children who have a hard time staying in place.

Not everyone has great spatial awareness, and the car seat manuals don’t always describe it well. If you get it naturally, good for you, but that doesn’t mean it’s common sense to everyone’s brain.

Points to the lady for figuring this out. Happened to me this morning and I thought my car seat was done for. We bought this for our xmas present to ourselves, so only lasting 6 months would have pissed me off 😂

I very much disagree with this. There have been reports of dangers happening even when they know how to hold their head up. My son is two, has low muscle tone due to health issue. For him, I do not believe it's safe for him to be in head slump position.
@countrykidscarseatsafety
@countrykidscarseatsafety 25 күн бұрын
That’s a perfectly valid concern when there is a medical need like that to consider, but for a child without any special medical needs that impact things like breathing and muscle control, it’s not a concern after they have good head control. If it were a concern after that age, we would have a ton of data to show that, because so many kids do sleep in the car with their heads in that position it would be happening often, but it simply isn’t because they can and do move their heads if needed, just like adults.

Do you have one on when to switch from convertible car seat to harness booster
@countrykidscarseatsafety
@countrykidscarseatsafety Ай бұрын
Once a child is ready to forward face (at least age 2 or when rearfacing is outgrown for their convertible or all-in-one seat), the harnessed mode of a “harnessed booster” or “harness to booster” seat is an appropriate choice! There’s no safety difference to the child, a forward facing harness is a forward facing harness, whether it’s on a convertible, all-in-one, or harness-to-booster seat.

This is helpful, but what do you do if you have a carseat behind the driver seat & another in the middle? Route middle strap through the loop that's already connected to the seat behind the driver side?
@countrykidscarseatsafety
@countrykidscarseatsafety 2 ай бұрын
Great question: each loop can be both a router and an anchor at the same time! So each loop can have a tether strap routed through it while also having another seat’s tether strap hooked onto it. If you have two forward facing seats in the outboard seats, they CAN both attach to the center loop, too!

This video needs more views. My kids were saved by the car seats when my wife’s car was rear ended by a car going over 60mph in a 30. People need to make sure the seats are installed correctly. My kids had a few minor bruises and were shaken but they were fine. My wife received a cut on her arm but was otherwise fine.

Both my girls are still in high back boosters at 9 and 11 and totally love them! They love having their owne cupholders and secret compartments for snacks and toys! My husband and i dont want to move them to backless boosters, we figured it was best they stay in their high backs, mostly because of the extra side impact protection they offer and the headrest. Both my girls like to jump around in their seats especially when we're listening to taylor swift ( we all love taylor swift ) so they're staying in their highbacks and its working out great!

Maybe we stuttered, or lost our balance leaning into the car, or the dog barked, or the rooster crowed, or we had to pause to help our kids with something, so we can’t do one continuous take. Maybe we’re humans providing free of charge safety information to the public, so we don’t have access to professional editing. Maybe some thoughts need to stay inside our brains because they’re not kind or necessary. 😊

Thank you for this video! Would be safer to use booster seat with these vests for a 3yr old toddler or is it safer without a thing extra?
@countrykidscarseatsafety
@countrykidscarseatsafety 8 ай бұрын
The ONLY booster that can be used with the RideSafer vest is the TravelSmarter booster from the same manufacturer: it cannot be used with any other booster whatsoever! It is optional, my biggest concern for the 3 year old is their maturity it sit correctly for the entire ride. There is more freedom of movement in the vest than in a harnessed seat, for a child that young I would advise a responsible adult to sit in the back with him to monitor him.
