Hi Katie. I am really impressed on how you are taking a cross stitch pattern and turning it into a diamond painting. It seems overwhelming to me, but you are doing a great job on it. I am looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

Frogging is what we cross stitchers call ripping stuff out …rip-it kind of sounds like ribbit ( the sound a frog makes 😂)

This looks incredible so far!!!! FYI I sealed my first DP because I was giving it to my daughter for her birthday. I used TRIPLE THICK in the tub and it was INCREDIBLE!!!!!! After it was completely dried even mounted it on a canvas frame and didn’t have ANY popping diamonds. I will probably seal all of my diamond paintings just because I have 4 kids with hands that like to pick lol

Pattern Keeper Tip: If you want to eliminate the "search" step (i.e. using the magnifying glass), if you go into your Settings at the top left and go down to Shortcuts, under "In Move Mode", select "Search and highlight the symbol", then close Settings. This way, when you want to quickly search for where multiple symbols are, you just double tap the symbol rather than switch back and forth between the Move and Search buttons at the top for each symbol you're searching for. Since learning this tip, I haven't touched that Search button and have saved myself invaluable time and frustration caused when I'd accidentally be in the wrong action-button and have to keep toggling between the two action buttons. Hope this makes sense, if it doesn't, there's youtube videos that explain it better =) Looking forward to seeing your progress on this! It's looking fantastic so far!

Ooh, thank you so much for the tip! I really appreciate that, I'll have to give that a try and see if that works well for me too. Love hearing the insight and experience from those of you that are more experienced than I am 🥰

I have sealed 3 diamond paintings due to popping drills. I only use Tombow Aqua Pur. It leaves NO residue! You can’t even tell it’s there. If anything, I think it makes them a tiny bit more shiny! Great video! Explains a lot! Stay Safe and Blessed! 👋🥰👍💕💜🙏

I use Super High Gloss Modpodge to seal my Non-DAC Diamond Paintings. The Principal Diamond Painter on here on KZbin did a fabulous video on all the different type of sealants. Hope that helps & good luck on the rest of the conversation Katie, looks impressive!

Hey Katie😁 OMG, you've really made some progress on this project!! I know one other creator tackling a HAED xstitch conversion project, and she is doing it using paper instead of a pattern software program! She's getting it done, very slowly and, I'm sure, a lot of extra time and triple checking her work! The way you chose to explain Pattern Keeper, I followed your logic very well, so thank you for that! I must say, although this probably doesn't mean much, but I am sooo proud of you!! I know what a perfectionist you are, combined with your anxiety (I also am both a perfectionist and suffer with anxiety), you're choosing to view the popping drills nightmare not as a cause for massive anxiety, but as a chance to try another thing you haven't tried before...sealing your diamond painting!! You're so AWESOME!! I've sealed several diamond paintings, until quickly learning you don't usually need to seal them, but I will not give any advice (cause I'm sure you have plenty of that, and I'm equally sure you have researched it thoroughly, lol), unless you ask me to, but know if I can help, please ask!! I really look forward to following your progress on this project, and any other projects! Thanks so much for choosing this massive undertaking, so we can all learn from it! It's definitely on my dp bucket list! 🥰💖💖 xx Cynthia

I've sealed roughly 20 images. My favorite way was to use half mod podge (not the shiny kind) and half water mixed. I had a pack of sponges that were attached to sticks and used one of those to apply it. Then I took a paper towel and gently patted the top being careful leave the sealant on the dp but not the very top surface level. That helped keep the original diamond sparkle.

What a spectacular project, thanks for sharing!! I have only sealed one diamond painting. After a lot of research, I decided to use 50/50 Tombow Aqua Glue/water. It turned out nice and shiny but far less flexible...it almost "cracks" when you bend it. That might be something to consider if you decide to seal as you go 🤔

I use Aleene's acrylic sealer gloss finish spray that I ordered from Amazon and it doesn't affect the painting at all. I can't even tell it's been sealed. The only draw back is I have to do it outside for ventilation. I've also gotten mod podge that I'm going to try but haven't yet. Good luck with your canvas and hope you enjoy every minute of it.

I don't like to bend or fold my dps because I have had issues with popping drills on some canvases. I attach my dps to foam core board using push pins. Makes it really easy to move them around and keep them flat.,,,

Hi Katie! I always always seal my diamond paintings. I'm pretty rough when handling my diamond paintings, so it eases my mind by sealing it :) I use Tombow Aqua Glue with an old toothbrush, and I have diamond paintings that have been sealed for two years old. Those paintings haven't yellowed, and in fact don't even look like they've been sealed. I hope this helps! :)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I'll definitely look into Tombow Aqua Glue since I do keep hearing about it, and I'm glad to hear it's worked so well for your finished kits. 🥰

Watching this reminds me of all the time it takes to work a cross stitch...which is one of the reasons I switched to diamond painting. I have more full-coverage cross stitch patterns than I could complete in 9 lives (assuming I'm part 😻)!

Wow, that's a lot of work! I absolutely hate popping drills but I sealed a couple of diamond paintings I worked on in the past and they were absolutely fine, you can't see the difference, it just feels much heavier and more rigid so you won't be able to roll it after. Have you worked on the new DIYMoonshop drills/canvases? I had a terrible case of popping drills on my last round from them. Didn't even know round drills can pop until then!
@DiamondsandWashi2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I'm so sorry you've had trouble with popping drills on a DIYMoon canvas - I definitely recommend contacting them to let them know. I'm actually working on a brand new round drill kit from them right now, but haven't had trouble with them so far 🤞🏻

So, you and life w/Lyndsay are both having issues with popping diamonds but on different canvas types but no obvious issues with the diamonds so I am guessing that the canvas squares are off slightly and may be causing the popping issue. I like your solution sealing as you go.

If I may add my 2 cents. Lol. My very first diamond painting was the RainbowTree by DAC. (Didn’t know about the warranty at the time) My drills were popping so i plugged on and sealed. People complained about mod podge so I went with minwax gloss poly acrylic spray which I love BUT for popping drills it was bad. Now when I touch that canvas whole sections pop off like peanut brittle. I’m so upset with myself. Mod Podge would have been a better choice.
