Converting a Quarter coin mech to use .900 Tokens

Is it possible to convert a microswitch coin mech into an electronic coin mech? My old coin mech has two wires when I touch them together it gives me a play, I want to wire these into a modern digital coin mech not sure which wires would go where on the coin mech. Could you help?

I’m sorry we have not explored these mechs yet. Almost all our coin op we repair is old enough to be two wires. Those newer mechs are closer to a dollar acceptor. You have power and different functions. It may have pulses or pulse wires. Get the manual for one and start reading. Is my best advice.

I am not sure, if its like a gumball machine mechanism, this wont, but if it has this style mechanism then yes.

That can be specific to the make of the item your working on. i would recommend a google search with some specifics of what you are working on.

Cool. Thanks for sharing your coin mech hacking skills! I have a 25¢ coin mech circa 1975 that accepts tokens just fine. Were tokens not around back then?!

Tokens for slots and other purposes to replace money have been around for a long time. I can't be certain when they appeared in arcades. but coin accepters are also used in other areas too. i know as arcades became popular in the 70's coin mechs got better and more tight, so it is most likely a coincidence the tokens work and not by designed. I could be wrong, are there markings signifying the date of the mech?

hey man I have many arcade machine and am getting sick of hacking coin doors to put multi coin selectors i’ve done that to all my machines in venues because it makes me more money but I have this one NBA jam machine with the twin coin mech 20c and $1 but is pointless at a venue like that for the life of me I can’t find a CM $2 mech anywhere looks like i’m going to have to eventually modify another coin door to make the machine reliable and generate me money. I really wanted to keep this one original. all the 20c mech ever does it jam with $2 coins lmao

Some videos we show in depth repair and some we aim to show what outcome you need to shoot for. In this video tweaking is required, and to show that on video would create a pretty boring video. I figure by showing a before and after of the components you can use your tools and skills to bend and tweak. We are also planning some homebrew in depth videos. Good Luck with your project.
