Interesting. I think the damage to the old ductwork was from the small amount of light that comes in to the attic through roof vents. That gray colored flex duct was recalled for that and has not been in use since the 1980s.

I am unfamiliar with that kind of duct i rarely see it 👀 This is great info, thanks 💯

18" duct for supply and return 👍🏾👍🏾. Love it. Are you in Cali? If so what part? Fresno?

Sorry for the 3 burst of comments. The flashing for the drain should be under the next row of shingles at least. Probably should be up at least 2 more. The closer to the tarpaper without ripping the better

I live in AZ, but im like 15 mins from California , im in between both states 😎 I agree with you about the flashing, our roofing skills keep improving hahah 💯

good video, hey i have a question, what sealant do you recommend to put around the base of a old unit on the roof like this, that started leaking rain water, i just went up and seen that its coming in from around the top area of the unit base? thanks

I use the Henry products, they are everywhere, im sure the lowes and homedepot in your area will have them. If you use the Henry "wet patch" it'll seal the patch even with water present. If you have never done any roofing i recommend watching a video or two before you commit. 💯 Good luck brotha 😎

Ok it's not a thing wrong with flex in a attic but about 70% of hvac companies are putting that stuff under homes that's a bad practice but the world we live in it's about quick and cheap and hurry. But young man keep up the good work.

Most companies in my area do exactly what you are saying. They are after the quick sale with the quickest turnaround time, no passion for the trade, no passion for craftsmanship or quality work. I always win bids against those companies because i preach quality work to my customer. I try my best but i know theres room for improvement. Thank you! 💯💯

Your work looks great BUT why use flex knowing rodents has been chewing why not use hard ridged pipe good craftsmanship just wondering?
@HeavyPressureHvac8 ай бұрын
Thanks brotha! Her pest company recommended she add a layer of cellulose on top of her insulation, i guess the boric acid in the cellulose helps keep rodents away, she claims this helped a ton. To her advantage i only did see 1 rat and it was dead. Another determining factor for not going with metal was price. 🥲
@eastsidepyro26857 ай бұрын
Get rid of the rodent problem, why spend 10x more on labor and material for metal duct? Shit makes no sense, here in Cali we use flex duct 90% of the time and they last 50 plus years without any issues

It is hard work. So you can make over 100k when you are young, but what will you do when you are >50? Now I recommend to go into IT. Less tough on the body, more challenging than HVAC wages are also higher than in trades 😊 By the way, have you try hard start kit before condemning the unit?
@HeavyPressureHvac7 ай бұрын
Thankfully there are plenty of HVAC careers that dont require lots of physical labor, so those are a nice option. Regardless, the most important thing is to have long term plans/goals 😊 I added a 5-2-1 start kit and it didn't do the trick🥲 You can see it at 2mins 10 secs 😊 I have a brother that does IT and he loves it 🤯🧐🧐

That's from my opinion you could spend 10 grand on unit and flex and have a rodents destroy it over night then what?
@michaelburton40257 ай бұрын
It should be illegal to ANY aluminum foil duck into any crawlspace no matter who new or old the house is if you couldn't run hard pipe you couldn't do my work for me sorry people should be able to make there own minds up and spend the money if they like now if you don't have the knowledge to knowledge to be able to build hard pipe that one thing .
