I did this a wile back, same idea used slash and built it up. i had over 600 into it by the time it was "finished". Then I went on ebay and bought a used mugen mbx6 eco for around 200 and it changed my life. Backslash was sold and I've been enjoying "race grade" rc cars ever since.
@A2ZRC2 ай бұрын
It's definitely not comparable to a proper 1/8 buggy but I had most of the parts laying around and it was a blast to build. It did definitely make me want a race grade 1/8th ebuggy.

Sweet build! btw the revo 6s set up fits really nice in the slash just need to move the radio box the buggy body would no longer fit but a 6s slash is pretty fun! I needed to replace my diffs with the x0-1 diffs because they couldn’t handle the 6s power

Loving it. Although I’m pretty sure you have just the heavy duty driveshafts. The extreme heavy duty driveshaft are parts number 9051. Those are used the the Extreme heavy duty kit. The bearing sizes are different.

The ones you're talking about are the Maxx Duty shafts, the extreme heavy duty shafts are the ones that come on the Slash ultimate and a few other models.

What does it weigh? How much ground clearance do you have it at? How much better would you say a Typhon is for turning and stability? Under any circumstances do you figure this could keep up with either buggies 1:10 or 1:8, or is this just good as a basher? I had a Traxxas bullet as my first car. It was too heavy, but 1 thing it had that went away and came back was sway bars front and back. Just wondering if the cheap used slash build is the way to go. I saw the old video where your friend put a brushless in his Slash, and it kept flipping. I'd hate that, or cars that just do donuts too easily.
@A2ZRC9 ай бұрын
I haven't bothered with checking weight, I just built this because it was a fun buggy to build to my liking. Any purpose built 1/8th buggy would be better performing but I built this for around half what a Typhoon 6s cost and I absolutely love how it turned out. If you plan to race, definitely do not go this route. But if you have an extra slash laying around and a fun assortment of spare parts- definitely get creative and build one for the hell of it.

Did you have to cut the tabs off the chassis siderails for the body to velcro flush?
@A2ZRC2 ай бұрын
Yes I did! It also allows the body to sit tighter to the chassis.

Shouldn't those swaybars mount much wider on the arms in order to have the proper leverage to be effective at the amount of travel where they SHOULD be doing something? (I mean, I've seen other RCs built with narrow mount sway bars that didn't do anything to the other side until 90+% of the suspension travel was achieved. One example didn't do anything even at FULL travel. Might as well not have it if it's not doing anything by mid-travel or so.)
@icin4d8 ай бұрын
You can also experiment by making your own swaybars out of music wire. I bought the Traxxas bars for my Rally and thought they were pretty ineffective - very little influence at full travel. Later I bought a Slash and made my own sway bar system bending my own bars. It took some experimenting, but I'm much happier with the results.

@@A2ZRC from what I was told the 4.0 body is a bit wider and doesn’t fit as snug to the sides. A guy I follow on KZbin did a build this is how I found out.

that's correct, it is a tad wider but if you use body mounts it'll work. I've also seen that the arrma typhoon body fits it too

Cool conversation but why not just get an 8th buggy? Your putting alot a money into that and your not actually getting the experience. I get it, it's fun to biuld but it doesn't make sense to spend the same and deprive yourself of what u want and there's tracks, u might have to drive but if u just wanna bash around thats cool too but u to your local track your gonna find others who share the same passion. The shocks on that thing are dainty and it doesn't have much suspension travel. Go get a tekno or if u like Losi go buy one. For the money u spent you'd have something awesome compared to that. Your missing out by messing with that
@A2ZRC9 ай бұрын
I spent half what a Typhoon 6s costs to build this and I primarily built this because I had parts laying around and love how these look when built right. If I had a track under 3 hours away from me that I could visit often, I would absolutely look into proper 1/8th buggies but spending that kind of money on a race buggy only to bash it just didn't make any sense to me personally.
