Those Pearl isolation feet do work really well,I made a conversion kit out of a modern Pearl Exxport kit as well,sounds great especially for home atudio recording.♥️🗽

Nice! Are those the same lugs you were using as a floor tom or did you have to get different ones to accommodate for the hoops?

Same lugs, slightly modified because they were not quite tall enough.

@@karlplaysdrums OK, thanks, that's what I was wondering about. I saw someone 3D printed pieces to match the shape of the lug to give them more height. I have an 18" tom I'm thinking of converting. It looks so much better with the hoops!

​@bassdrumcreep7884 not only does it look better, but it allows the use of true bass drum heads, which have larger hoops. That was the main reason I went with wood hoops.

The sounds you achieve from your shells is uncanny Karl. Nice set up. " Losing it's ability to gather itself" Never heard that phrase but do like it. How about a tall snare stand for the 10x8 or 9. I figured individuals were moving to tom or snare stands for tom's, for the reasons you have verbalized in your videos. What can you share about the screw under the bottom snare cymbal? Thank you Reminds me of rdavidr or Todd Thomas " cheap drum guy " when modifying shells. It has to be labor of love.

Mentioning me in the same breath as rdavidr... high praise! That guy is legend, and his videos are the gold standard. I've come up with a solution for the tom mount, and there will be a video upcoming, along with a way to actually measure sustain and tonal purity using a pitch detector. It will be interesting! Regarding the screw under the cymbal, is it the crash cymbal stand you're referring to? If so, that's a multi clamp clamping a cymbal boom to my hihat stand, which means there are absolutely NO stands other than the snare and hihat. Everything else is attached to the bass drum mount. Super clean and simple. Nothing to trip on. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Stay tuned...

I have a Sonor kit with small drums. I'm telling you, if you tune them right without muffling them to death, they sound much bigger than you would expect. Small drums rule. I have to hold on to my 14" Sonor rosewood snare though. But the Pearl isolation feet are garbage because they are WAY too stiff. I made spring feet from local hardware store components that completely outperform the pearl junk rubbers. If you can pick up your floor tom by the rim and hear the difference in resonance then you know what I'm talking about.
