I have these heads on my Ludwig Breakbeats bass drum. No lie, it sounds like a 20". I also added an Evans EQ Pad inside the drum, and cut a hole in the front head. Easily my favorite kit to play, just because of the bass drum

Grateful for the post! Just bought a 16x16" Eames Naturaltone Bass Drum...

I can vouch for that 16" Emad. I use the same on my 16" Sonor Safari kick, and constantly get complimented on how big that little drum sounds. My band plays country and classic rock, and I have an Audix D6 mounted internally on a Kelley Shu. I tune the batter and reso just past finger tight, and it really punches. Very happy!

Hello DrumJedi What would you recommend for the reso head? Have you tried with a port hole head or just the original Sonor head?
@drumjedi53012 жыл бұрын
@@consejo I just used the stock Sonor head until I got one with our band logo printed on it. I would usually use a ported head, but with the internal mic and the fact that I removed the tom post from the top of the drum, I decided to forgo the port. The hole left from from removing the tom post allows the drum to breathe, and the intact reso head gives me the depth of tone from such a small drum.

I'll definitely have to try that EMAD batter head. Love that 16" kick drum! Thanks for sharing this video!

Great sound-this is exactly what I’ve been looking for my newly converted 16x16 floor tom! I will definitely get an Evans EMAD. I see there are the classic EMAD clear and UV-coated versions available for the batter head. My question is this: since there is no EQ3 Reso available for tom hoops, should I go ahead and use a coated Powerstroke 3 as a reso (since that’s probably the closest option)? I’m currently using Evans EC2 clear as a batter and Evans EC reso-great for tom heads, but we really need more of that bass drum sound over here.

i've been using E-Mad on my bass drum since 2006 and never looked for any bass drum head outside of Emad

Great review.. Thank you! One question: The description mentions "Level 360" and that also appears on the head in the video. But the only EMAD 16 I could find doesn't indicate Level 360. Could you please post the exact Evans part numbers for both the batter and reso?

no. send him money before you ask your question

ALL Evans heads made since 2012-13 have the 360 technology. In the last yr or two they switched up the head description stamp.

@sluggowonder has it right! All Evans heads now use this tech so any of the heads available will have been built this way!

Sorry for my bad English, but what would be the dimensions of the floor tom, and shell especifications? Thanks a lot.
@TheDrumShed7 жыл бұрын
Hi Willian, The floor tom is a 9 ply birch drum at 16" diameter by 13" depth. Kind of a odd size but I felt like it gave the shell a bit more immediacy in response. Set up as a kick I really dig the shallow depth.

very nice bass drum, with a little bit of muffling inside it would be awesome for jazz I think. Do you have any video where are you playing with this bass drum? Thanks for the video

Good point! I should break that drum back out for a video soon! It's a really cool sound but I tend to only use it in quieter settings and handn't thought to use it in another video.

Nice one! I'm also looking for reso head use normal floor tom head. any other reccomend? Will be great have same feature of overtone rings. And may I know the height of wood hoop? I'm planning to have custom wood hoops. Thank you.
@TheDrumShed7 жыл бұрын
The wood hoops I had done on that drum are normal bass drum depth, but with a notch cut in to them to allow the chain to travel. I use one of the pearl jungle conversion kits with an opti mount to get the drum off the floor, and the beater close to the center of the head.

Yes, I have my 20 set up with the Emad calftone and really like it. I am going to try the 16’s soon as well. Thanks for checking out the video!

Sounds like a punchy 20. That's the ticket with smaller bass drums and specific heads.👍👍
